1st problem: I called Laurel ...

1st problem: I called Laurel Ridge seeking help for pain med addiction and withdraw. Upon getting an automated message I left my contact info and asking to be contacted immediately, I was going through a very severe withdraw and was suicidal. I never received a call, instead I got a box in the mail a week later. It contained a cheesy calendar, a letter saying thanks for you interest in LR, and as one final FU a cellophane wrapped packet of 100 ct cardboard info sheets; they didn't even bother to unwrap them. It was like saying "HERE! Here's you're effing info, quit calling."

2nd complaint. After that experience I decided I was better off abusing the meds, at least I wouldn't be in such physical agony and in danger of killing myself. A few weeks passed and I ended up in the same situation. This time I just went over there. After spending a few days at LR, the ONLY THING that happened was a group session in which we played a ****ing kid's game. A kid's game, no therapy play, just a kid's game. How is that supposed to help someone who is dealing with drug addiction or depression?? On top of that they never addressed nor treated me for the physical withdraws I was dealing with. I could have seized and died.

If you are in need of help, seek help elsewhere. This is nothing more than a warehousing unit. Maybe a step up from the state hospital.

Do NOT take your child here

Our child was not only misdiagnosed, and discharged only because her insurance ran out, NOT because she was ready, but when she was inevitably brought back, she was the victim of constant physical and emotional abuse. Problem is, there's no good alternatives in this city. My advice: drive to Austin!!

Also, if you have a legitimate complaint, REPORT IT!! Texas Dept of Health, Joint Commission, Texas Office of the Attorney General, Medical Board (Drs), Nursing Board (and I'm a nurse!).... I have active complaints with each one, but it does no good if they have no idea what's going on at this place. Be your own advocate, and make a difference in the life of a child!!!

If you are readin...

If you are reading this either you have a mental illness or a substance abuse problem, or know someone that does and you are considering laurel ridge of san antonio as a treatment option. I beg of you to consult an objective proffesional ie. a psychologist or pshyciatrist first!

My personal story.... In early 2008 my wife left, and my best friend who was a cop died in the line of duty. I was working sales for a liquor distributor at the time, and was in a depressed world of booze at the time. I lost that job and was soo depressed at the time i crawled into a bottle, and eventually tried to take my own life. My family took charge of the situation, and took me to laurel ridge. I was out of my mind at the time but i was concious enough to know that they knew what was best for me at the moment. My entire stay there they loaded me up with a fatal dose of drugs, and kept me cold and tired. I worked the system becuase i wanted to get better, and i was discharged and sent to outpatient. My second day out i had a violent/fatal reaction to the high dosage of medications they prescibed me when i left. My family took me to the treatment center where they said there was nothing they could do and maybe it was the flu! We left there and never went back. It took 2 weeks for my body to recover. and through counseling and safer medication i feel great!

Like i said before if you're reading this you are considering laurel ridge for either yourself or a loved one, you want the help and thats the first step, i ask you to get good help and not go to laurel ridge.

I wouldnt wish the kind of pain i went through, on usama bin ladin! thats how bad it was

God bless
