Very rude! I had some 90% silver coins that I wanted to sell. They made me wait an extraordinarily long time to discuss what coinage I had. Once i finally got to see someone they were offering me well below spot price, as compared to all the other coin shops around town. I wanted a little time to consider the low price that they were offering and they rolled their eyes and essentially wanted me to leave. I have never been treated so poorly as a customer. At one point I felt as though my "Race" made them feel as if I stole the coins that my grandfather left for me before he died. I would advise anyone wanting to buy or sell coins or bullion to avoid Coin Cottage.

I travel semi-regularly, and visit coin shops in every town I visit that has at least one and I have to say the Coin Cottage is by far my favorite. Excellent knowledge and customer service, combined with an excellent selection and knowledgeable staff. This shop deals fairly with buyers and sellers and the people who work here will take the time to help you find exactly what you're looking for. Bring your wish list and you'll never leave the Cottage disappointed!

I was born in 1960, collecting coins and collectibles since I was a kid. I was the annoying teenager in an antique shop with too many questions and no money!! I have lived in every urban environment in the west 50 years later. Small towns, big city, I check places out because it is my interest, O.K. passion. Many numismatic vendors treat customers with suspicion and contempt, and will lie to you in order to get your goods from you cheap for resale. Purchases can be like a '3 card monty' hustle. NOT SO at 'COIN COTTAGE'. They stock all grades, quality and variety of things. They are happy to show you something you'd never be able to buy, and teach you about it... it is a very inclusive and comfortable place. In my opinion one of the most favorable places to acquire numismatic items and supplies. Selling I have felt like I am treated fairly. Selling numismatic items is always painful, with these guys you'll know the score in making your decisions.

Knowing nothing about the gold coins my daughter had inherrited we phoned around a number of shops. The people at the Coin Cottage were the most friendly, and offered the highest prices. When we went there in person Paul and his daughter-in-law were just as nice as on the phone. Paul offered us cash or a cheque. To prove his cheque was good, he even showed us his on-line bank account, balance and all. That's a first. We also sold some old gold jewellery. Even the other customers join in with the chit-chat. The Coin Cottage was a lucky find. I suggest you look no further if you wish to conduct like business.

After doing a lot of research on the web and calling several prominent gold and silver coin dealers in town, I decided to give The Coin Cottage a call to discuss investing in gold and silver coins. The positive feedback I read in other posts about Paul and his shop drew me in. Every 5 star post is completely accurate in my opinion. Paul is VERY knowledgeable and customer service is alive at his shop. That is not the case at other coin dealers in town. Trust me on that one! Paul's attitude is all about treating customers well and giving them a fair price. He has earned my business and I will be doing business with him again.

My son got into coin collecting about a year ago so we have been scouting out stores for the past year. This one is the furthest for us to travel to but it's open on Saturdays so we decided to give it a try. While the shop was busy, the couple working there acknowledged us and went above and beyond to help my son have a positive experience. Sprinkling in quizzes and facts to keep it interesting. Their pricing was very fair and they freely gave us info and advice. We will make the long trip again - it is well worth it!

I drove from the Dalles or to portland because of the reveiws and wish to give mine.Paul and his wife were very polite,knolegable and friendly.After going through the bag i brought to him peice by peice he had given me a very fair value on my items,I did this wothout an appointment on a sunday.I would highly recomend this buisness to anyone.Robert

I have visited the coin cottage twice now and have found them to be friendly and honest with some of the best prices in town. I do not a great deal about coins but I have been buying silver as I can afford it. It is a pleasure doing business here and recommend the Coin Cottage to anyone.

I feel like just one more voice adding another glowing review, but I just have to. So few businesses offer really excellent customer service. This one does. Nice, friendly, and very helpful. Highly recommended.

Came here to get an appraisal on an ancient coin collection I inherited. Paul & Jason spent an afternoon with me going over the coins and Paul sent me the sheet I needed for probate. All in all a good exchange. You can tell Paul really enjoys coins and was easy and fair to deal with.

I had a very good experience selling my coin collection at The Coin Cottage. They looked at each coin and explained the valuation to me. I feel that I received a fair price for my coins and I was treated very kindly.

I contacted Paul about a collection of coins that my mother had. My Sister and I went to see Paul at his business on May 13, 2009. Paul spent over 2 hours going over the coins that my mother had. During the process of evaluation of Moms coins Paul showed us how he determined the value of the coins and what he would pay for them. Very professional and a truly nice person to do business with. how could you ask for anything more than a great little shop in a nice location, with an impressive stock selection, good buy and sell prices, and some of the best customer service i have ever had. the owner is happy to spend time with customers, discussing potential purchases and imparting some of his seeming encyclopaedic knowledge. on my second visit i was greeted by name and made to feel as welcome as any long time customer. i have made some great finds and, with a little patience, found some great deals here. i have never felt rushed or pressured to make a purchase. i am a customer for life when i find a store like this!

WOW! That was my first reaction to stopping into the Coin Cottage. They were swamped with customers. I thought "They must be doing something right to have this many people shopping here" and boy was I right. I watched Paul and his wife help many people while I was there and let me tell you - THEY REALLY KNOW HOW TO TREAT PEOPLE! They really do treat you like you matter - what a great place to do business. They were also fair and open about the pricing of their products, and I saw them buy coins too. Some kids came in who just inherited some coins from their grandmother who passed away. Paul treated those folks with dignity, concern and fairness. He explained everything in detail and was totally open with them about the values of their coins and what he would be able to pay for them and why. You know what I noticed the most? Paul knew most people who came in by name. Obviously these people are repeat customers. Count me as one of your newest "repeat customers"! Thanks!

Paul & Alvin are true professionals, and just plain nice people. They are fair, and take the time to teach when you ask. I couldn't be happier to do business with these professionals.

These guys are so friendly and helpful. The nicest place to shop for coins, currency, or jewelry. Yes, they even occasionally have jewelry for sale. The owner, Paul, spent over an hour with me going over my collection and explaining everthing to me in detail. What a gem!! Before coming here, I went to two other coin shops. When I showed them my collection they didn't even look at it. They just made a quick offer based on junk prices. I asked if they would look through the collection and they said they had lots of this type of stuff, and they didn't have time to look through every little collection. Paul treated me with respect, and found that I had 4 rare coins, for which he paid me a fair price. THe shop was very busy too. While I was there, there were at least 4 other customers at all times. Still, he took time to be pleasant and patient. I will definitely come back again! You have made a customer for life!
