Environmental Health Center–Buffalo (EHC Buffalo) was founded by Kalpana Patel, MD, FAAP, FAAEM, DABEM, a board-certified and leading environmental medicine specialist. Dr. Patel practices Functional, Integrative, and Environmental Medicine. Dr. Patel established her practice to offer specialized care to patients in Buffalo, New York, and throughout New York State, as well as other domestic and international patients. She provides comprehensive evaluations of a wide range of medical issues and diseases, with a focus on the indoor and outdoor environments in which patients live and work. Dr. Patel diagnoses and treats a variety of conditions, including autism, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, allergies, autoimmune diseases, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic Lyme disease, nutritional deficiencies, problems related to toxic mold exposure, as well as food, allergy, chemical, and EMF sensitivities -- all in an environmentally controlled office. EHC Buffalo features a specially designed office with an airlock system, special flooring, and an innovative and protective ventilation system. Together with her professional, friendly staff, Dr. Patel uses a problem-oriented approach in reaching a medical diagnosis. The team works to find and treat the root cause of the problem, rather than just applying a bandage to temporarily fix a chronic medical condition. Patients often find relief from months or years of pain and suffering with Dr. Patel’s expert care, even after visiting 5-15 other doctors who couldn’t help. The team at EHC Buffalo ensures all patients receive comprehensive medical evaluations to identify the root cause and provide the best treatment plan possible, customized to each patient’s individual needs. Dr. Patel’s environmental medicine expertise is appropriate for both children and adults, including the elderly, who suffer from chronic infections and other medical conditions.

Excellent care

I WAS so tired and I had no energy I WAS very depressed. I am 48 years old. I was misdiagnosed for three years until fiinally, I was Stage 2 with breast cancer. I had just given birth to my 3rd child. I was put on chemotherapy, radiation, and told " do not take any supplements". Eight years ago the cancer spread to my lungs, liver and bones. I was told by a prominent Buffalo doctor at our leading cancer hospital " go home and enjoy the rest of your life, about 2-4 years is your death expectancy". For 8 years I've had bi-weekly chemotherapy treatments. About 6 weeks ago, I was preparing for my death. The fatigue and side effects were relentless and I was honestly having a hard time simply functioning on a daily basis.
The timing was perfect when I spoke to a dear friend who is a nurse and was worried by my appearance. She fortunately implored me to consult with EHC of Buffalo . Dr. Kalpana Patel has given me life again. Dr. Patel has sprung hope in me.

excellent service

Finally I got my diagnosis and in one month of treatment I am 90% better. I was sick for a long time and my Canadian doctors disregarded my complaints as my Lyme test was negative. However my symptoms started after tick bite but I did not have any target lesion. I was told that you are having stress. I cam to see Dr Patel who listened to me and clinically diagnosed me after giving clear explanation about my diagnosis. She spent lots of time with me and reviewed all the tests that I brought with me that my prior physician did on me. She ordered more lab tests and also gave me prescription medication. She provided me Probiotics and all the necessary nutrients to support my system from adverse effects of antibiotics. She also guided me to start one med at a time, so If I have bad reaction from meds, I will be able to discontinue it. I was very happy when I left. I was given post visit Follow up in four weeks. She also encouraged me to call in between the appointment if I had a problem.
