The Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District works to provide emergency fire and safety services and security to residents and businesses. It employs more than 50 line members and chief officers, as well as an administrative assistant and mechanic. The district protects and serves a population of over 7,500 residents living in an area of nearly 15 square miles. The Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District offers training and certification courses in fire investigation, prevention and management, hazardous materials and public education. It conducts several public education, community outreach, and fire and life safety education programs and school drills. The district operates a bomb squad that provides response to incidents involving suspected bombs, explosives, shock-sensitive materials, weapons of mass destruction and accidental explosions. It is located in Zephyr Cove, Nev.
