Bought an alternator from them, which then died a year later. They refused to cover the cost of a new alternator, which they definitely should have, alternators should last much longer than a year. they said that it was out of warranty, so I did some research online and found all sorts of alternators online with lifetime warranties. This was clearly a rip off, and we will never be going back.

UPDATE:

We just found out that our A/C died because "somebody" forgot to plug the compressor back in, which conveniently happened just 2 weeks after they replaced our alternator for the 2nd time!

The new garage we took our van to literally told us "somebody does not like you". Simply put: this place will do anything they can to scam you out of every cent you have. They literally sabotaged our car in order to get more money out of us in the future. So glad we're not going there anymore. They are literally thieves.

UPDATE #2:

We just had our battery checked because it kept dying, and they said the battery terminals were shot, and they said that someone who didn't know what they were doing messed it up when they replaced the alternator (in this case, that person who didn't know what they were doing working for Rich's Wood Dale). Just another example of how incompetent this garage is. I wouldn't trust them to fix my son's Hot Wheels at this point.

Customer service is horrible! Unless if you like 2 crabby old guys who I like to call "Doom and Gloom" tell you no matter what needs repair it will be at the very least if your lucky just $500 it usually is closer to the $850 total and at least one of the Doom and Gloom team will say " I wouldn't drive it if I were you" NO matter what is wrong with your car! They have fixed my car a few times and I have always gone there for my oil changes. Each time I would think hum maybe today they will be nice to me when they take my money. Well today I'm taking my money elsewhere and I'm spreading the word. Doom and Gloom need to find a different line of business where they are not working with the public! Or maybe it is just women they don't like.

I have dealt with this place 5 times a year over the past 10 years. The counter help is always gruff and unfriendly. I used them because they are so close to my house and I could just drop off the car or tire to be fixed and walk back to pick up. But never again. Last year I had my wife drop off a tire and they were really unfriendly to her. They ignored her while she stood at the counter. Recently I brought a tire from a F-350 pick up truck to be repaired. I brought in the wheel in loose, circled the hole where the screw was and marked the location of the valve stem on the wheel so it wouldn't have to be rebalanced. When I picked it up, the price was over $50.00! I told the counter guy that a new tire is only $85.00 and it sounded high for a patch repair. I told him I had tried made it easy for him (I am a Fleet Manager) by removing the wheel (he didn't have to pull the truck in and jack it up), by identifying the location of the leak and by matchmarking the tire with wheel so it wouldn't have to be rebalanced. He said they do a good job and rebalance everything because "you never know if the patch could throw it out of balance." Fine, but there were still stone pebbles caught in the tread in a couple of places, so there goes the precision balancing job. Anyway, If this is the way they treat a regular customer, I will take my business elsewhere from now on.

I love this place. VERY Honest... I like it so much, I refered co-workers and family as well,... and they too are very happy with Rich's Firestone.
