I used Garrison Septic Tank Svc to do a septic and well inspection of a home we are purchasing. They did fine with the septic inspection but really failed when it came to the well inspection. The inspector did not have a good understanding of the current codes. The inspector wrote his report and stated that the well did not meet the code. After reviewing the code myself and questioning him on it he advised his interpretation might be stricter than the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). I asked Garrison to look into the matter further so we would know exactly what we needed to do to be able to get the loan approved. Garrison contacted a DNR representative and was told his interpretation was incorrect and the well was within code. Garrison did revise there report and get it back to us. Unfortunately this delay cause us to have to push our closing date back and cost us additional money because we had to keep our household items in storage longer and additional rental home costs. It seem concerning that we hire a "professional" to do our inspection and they did not have a good understanding of the codes they are enforcing. When I read the code it seemed obvious he was wrong in his initial interpretation. It would have cost approximately $6000 to get the well to code according to the "professional" inspectors initial understanding of the codes. It was very disappointing. Garrison Septic Svc also took a long time to get the corrected report back to us. It seemed the only thing that would get them to get back to us was when our lawyer would contact them. I will never use them for anything again.
