The Public Services Department maintains administration, engineering, environmental services, fleet maintenance and storm water management divisions. The department coordinates various activities, including budgeting, personnel, departmental policies, and broad overseeing. It installs and maintains traffic control signs and markings, operates municipal parking lots and responds to citizen comments on traffic. The Public Services Department construct and maintains city streets and sidewalks, demolishes dilapidated and obsolete builds and makes improvements to municipal parking lots. The department also operates a water distribution division that constructs and maintains more than 400 miles of water distribution mains. It works with a team of over 200 employees. The Public Services Department is governed by the City of Wilson in North Carolina, which additionally manages community development, fire, police and human resources departments.
