My child chipped his tooth and...

My child chipped his tooth and since he had never been to a dentist I began to call around. When I got down to Wilmington Dental Care, they had the earliest appointment available (which probably should've said something) so I took it. The first appointment was ok. The wait was relatively short and the appointment itself was about 10 minutes long. All in all we were there for 30 minutes. He needed minor work; some sealing and one filling that I was told "wouldn't even need any anithetics". So we scheduled 2 weeks out. While waiting, my husband and I watched 2 kids come out crying (they were the only kids returned). When they called my son the nurse stopped me and said "you're not allowed back there". So we kept our son with us and we waited in the conference room bc the lady I had talked to last time said I could and another nurse came in and told me that I couldnt even listen in from outside the door. She explained to me that "that's just not how Dr. Fowler does things" and that they were going to place my child in a restraint out the gate, whether he needed it or not. To which I said "I'm sorry that's not what I had agreed to or understood." I explained it to her and she said that she completely understood because she was an expecting mother and she would want the same treatment I was asking for. Then the dentist came in, without a word takes my son out of the chair he was sitting in and puts him on the floor and snatches the model teeth out of his hands and then turns to me and starts telling me that "some parents think its traumatizing for kids to cry and well they're going to cry so if you're going to be one of those parents you just need to take him to Dr. Fry so he can be put to sleep bc hes going to cry and I can't stop once I start on a tooth and if you were to come back there you'd only make it worse so you just need to go somewhere else..." I started laughing. I had no idea how to respond, other than to suggest that he hire himself someone who had better customer service skills. I laughed again when we opened the conference room door and I realized 4 of his nurses were standing outside the conference room listening in on our 30 sec conversation. One of them actually had Dr. Fry's number waiting for us on a post-it note... I have never in my life been treated like that and I would never leave my child in the hands of someone who would refuse me listening in through the door to what is happening with MY child nor do I suggest anyone else do that. My child is not a number.
