Bio Sheet Eric E. Schmidt, O.D. Eric E. Schmidt, O.D. is the president of Omni Eye Specialists, a multispecialty practice headquartered in Wilmington, North Carolina. Dr. Schmidt graduated with honors from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and he completed a residency in Ocular Disease from The Eye Institute in Philadelphia. He received his undergraduate education at the University of Illinois. Dr. Schmidt specializes in the treatment of ocular disease with a special interest in glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmic disease. He is an adjunct professor at various Colleges of Optometry and was the author of the long-running column Clinical Challenges in Optometric Management and of the textbook Clinical Procedures Of The Lids And Nasolacrimal System. Dr. Schmidt is a frequent contributor to other optometric journals and lectures internationally on eye disease.
