The Adult Education Division ( AED ) of New Castle County Vocational Technical School District offers a wide range of educational programs for persons interested in retraining, advancement, continuing education, or completion of their high school requirements.Part time and evening courses are offered for students in academic, apprenticeship training, certification, and trade extension programs. More than 2, 500 adults and out-of-school youth enroll each year in these programs, which are generally offered in the evenings beginning in September. Classes are offered at each of the four buildings ( Delcastle, Hodgson, Howard, Marshallton ) within the district as well as numerous off campus sites. Enrollment for the AED programs begins each August.The Division has two main components: academic and vocational. Academic program offerings include high school diploma courses through the James H. Groves High School ; General Educational Development ( GED ) ; Adult Basic Education ( ABE ) ; and Career Counseling. A full range of academic subjects such as American Studies, Computer Literacy, English, Health, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies are offered.
