It might be too soon to tell, but something was fishy about the deal this week. Mr. Hobbs told me the car I wanted to buy had a problem with the rear strut, but that he would fix it before I took ownership. When I went back to do the deal, Mr. Hobbs lamented that when he took the car to be inspected, they found trouble with the brake hose and line and that it was an expense he didn't anticipate. I forgot to ask about that strut. Later after driving over some CNY potholes, it was obvious there was a problem. I call Mr. Hobbs to ask if the strut had been checked and he told me it had, but "they" couldn't find anything wrong with it. Well $596 dollars and one day later, I have new, safe struts and few other things fixed on the car. What do I suspect? I think the brake hose/line caused the car to fail inspection, while the struts weren't as big a deal so he did what he had to to pass the inspection. The fact that he said the strut would be fixed and then wasn't...well that's the fishy part of this deal.
