Founded in 1988, Mountain Shadows Elementary School is a year-round school that serves more than 1,000 students in kindergarten through grade six. The school s academic curriculum includes several subjects, such as reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, science and physical education. Its computer laboratory enables students to learn and practice keyboarding skills, word processing programs and software in language arts and math. The school offers a balanced literacy program that provides guided reading, phonemic awareness, accelerated reading and sound recognition instruction, as well as conducts writing workshops. It additionally provides a special education program for students with special needs. Located in West Jordan, Utah, Mountain Shadows Elementary School is governed by the Jordan School District.
