MeghannA - Your posting doesn't surprise me at all. I went looking for dresses for my daughter’s quincenera. The prices for her gowns were higher than any of the other shops/stores I walked into. I had seen that there was only one lady to assist… my daughter and I were the only people in the shop and not once were we asked if we needed assistance. It gave me the impression she didn’t want us in the shop so we obviously walked out and didn’t attempt to purchase anything. A few days after I had an appointment to see the tux rental upstairs from Shelley's . I learned then that the lady who didn't offer her assistance was actually the owner of Shelley’s. UNBELEIVABLE!!! I agree… please go elsewhere.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! GO TO COMPLETE BRIDAL ACROSS THE STREET!!!



Shelley's was the first place I took my bridesmaids to look for their dresses. Alyssa was nice enough; not pushy and made great recommendations. The dress I loved was more than I wanted to ask my girls to spend and after some shopping around, I was able to find it cheaper at Woodfield. Because my experience at Shelley's had been positive and because this is a small hometown store, I wanted to give her the business. I was thrilled when Alyssa told me Shelley would price match (a savings of only $25 per dress, but something was better than nothing!).



The following week one of my girls went in to be fitted and place her order. She was met with Alyssa telling her that because this order was a "price match", her measurements would not be taken. WHAT?! How can a dress for a wedding, that is ordered specifically for you, be ordered WITHOUT your measurements being taken?! Unfortunately my girl did not call me when she was told of this idiotic "policy" and simply used her best guess to order the size she thought she needed. Of course, the store says the 60% deposit is nonrefundable.



I was fuming as she told me what happened and called the store right away. Alyssa answered the phone and acknowledged my frustration at the situation but kept saying that she is just a consultant following Shelley's order and that if I had an issue, I needed to speak to Shelley (who of course happened to be out of town for the week). She also told me that this situation "is no big deal" and that I "didn't need to be freaking out". I BEG YOUR PARDON?! I don't care who you are, you NEVER tell a bride she needs to stop freaking out; Alyssa was so unprofessional, I was appalled.



I sent a 2 page email to Shelley and requested that the order just placed be canceled and a full refund given. Even though the bill of sale states "all sales final", "no cancellations" and it tries to scare consumers with the threat of court costs and attorney's fees, I pointed out to Shelley that she breached her own bill of sale contract by not taking my girls measurements.



A day later I received a one lined email response from Shelley stating the order was canceled and the refund processed. The was no apology for the horrendous service and stress I had to deal with, no empathy whatsoever from the owner of a "couture" shop; I expected professionalism and so much more. Thankfully I got the result I wanted and I would NEVER recommend that anyone do business with Shelley's Bridal; unless you want to measure yourself and guess at what you need!



For the happy ending to my story, Complete Bridal across Main Street offered a much better price match on the same dress (over $100 less than Shelley's!!!) and they took measurements! David and his staff were much more accommodating and it was a pleasure to give them the business!

This place is a rip off. They got the wrong sizes for all of my girls and they do that so the alterations women that works there can make money. Not too mention Shelly or her employees never call you back.
