As part of the department, Fame Fire Co No. 3 provides fire and rescue services to the Borough of West Chester and all, or portions of, the following Chester County townships ; Birmingham, East Bradford, Thornbury, West Goshen, and Westtown.Fame Fire Company has become the FIRST ( 1st ) All-Volunteer Fire Company in Chester County and the fifth ( 5th ) all-volunteer fire company in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to achieve 100% state certification in the voluntary state certification program. The 49 Active Firefighters have participated in a Voluntary Pennsylvania State Certification Process following guidelines from the National Fire Protection Association, and recently achieved 100% fire professional certification.To achieve this goal, in 2007 the 49 active firefighters attended numerous training classes in firefighting, rescue and special hazards that totaled more than 10, 000 hours in preparation for the written and practical skills competency validation of the National Firefighter Standards.Fame Fire Company is proud to be the first All-Volunteer Fire Department in Chester County and the 5th out of 2, 500 fire departments to receive 100% certification.
