Oh Avalon, you used to be so accomodating. What has happened? Do you have a new chef who is so haughty that he is unwilling to make a simple adjustment to a menu item for someone on a very strict diet. It was only substituting the root vegetables which were available as an appetizer and on another dish for the eggplant caponata with the salmon. We were a party of 5 on Sunday 2/20/11. A very special dinner for our family. Our waitperson was distracted, we had to ask for coffee, and she brought the check out with the coffee. No second cup?? We did not see anyone waiting for a table and ther were a few empties, so why the bum's rush out the door? Going out to dinner and spending close to $300. on a meal for our family has become a luxury and we were sorely disappointed.

The food was over priced and tasted awful. One of the dishes was rancid. It tasted awful and smelled poorly. When we complained to the owner he explained that is how filet tastes when it is cooked well done. Since we did not order our filet well done nor have I heard of or tasted well done filet smelling like fish, and tasting putrid we attempted to object to his statement. The owner then in turn started to scream and yell at our table. It was the most unprofessional display I had ever witnessed. The entire dining room became quiet while this man screamed at paying customers. Avalon is an abomination to the West Chester dining scene. The only way that this business could improve would be to start out by getting a new owner and purchasing fresh food.
