The Lake County Sheriff's Office exists to serve the community by protecting life and property, by preventing crime, by enforcing the laws and incarcerating offenders of the laws, and by maintaining order for all citizens of Lake County, Ill. The organizations main divisions include the highway patrol, criminal investigations, court security, corrections, communications, warrants, civil process, photo lab, records, marine unit, reserve deputy unit and the Lake County Emergency Management Agency. In addition, the office is responsible for the gang task force, repeat offender strike force, the tactical unit, major crime task force, child advocacy center and the citizens police academy. The Lake County Sheriff s Office maintains its headquarters and operational facilities in Waukegan, Ill.
