When I saw that other random review on this YP site I felt like I had to counter it even though I never write these things! I loved my experience at Americana. So the opposite of a chain store. I was in Waterford and shopped with a friend who hates going alone and this store was great! I ended up talking with another customer who has bought from Americana literally for 3 generations! It's a small town store, with big time service and a fantastic selection. My friend and I both spent the right amount for really good brand name pieces - good quality and service. Support local stores!!

Don't be fooled into buying a protection plan for your furniture. The salesman specifically told us that the furniture protection would repel all liquids and they would bead up on the fabric so you can easily wipe them up before they soak in. He said he had the protection on all his furniture at home and it worked great. When our new sofa and loveseat were delivered they had a strong smell like the warehouse so we were a bit skeptical that the fabric had been treated. We sprayed a little water to see if it would repel and it immediately soaked in. When I contacted the store about this I was told several different stories like, the fabric protection does not repel liquids, it only keeps the stains from soaking in, or it only repels liquids on certain types of fabrics. Needless to say we feel that the furniture was not sprayed with the fabric protection, especially since it smells like the set had been sitting in a humid dusty warehouse for a very long time (even though the store manager assured me it was only in the warehouse for a short time). We wasted $140 for fabric protection that was a total waste of money. We are happy with our set, so far, but the fact that it smelled like a musty warehouse, doesn't appear to have the fabric protection we paid for and were lied to by the salesman will prevent us from ever shopping at Americana Furniture again. Total disappointment and customer service is really bad.
