The National Association of County and City Health Officials, also, known as NACCHO, is a national organization that represents local health departments. It supports various local public health practices and systems. The organization s member city, county, metropolitan, district and tribal departments work to protect and promote the health and well-being of people in their communities. The National Association of County and City Health Officials community health projects address a variety of health promotion and disease prevention issues, including HIV, chronic illnesses and other infectious diseases. It also assists health departments in responding to public health emergencies and other disasters. In addition, the organization focuses on topics concerning immunization, tobacco cessation, primary care, and adolescent and mental health.
