EJF Real Estate Services traces its origins to the 1920s when Edmund J. Flynn introduced the concept of housing cooperatives to Washington, DC. The Edmund J. Flynn Company was the pioneering force behind a great number of the area's premier cooperative and condominium associations and was directly involved in the development or conversion of many of Washingtonâ??s finest buildings.

DO NOT USE EJF REAL ESTATE. THEY ARE SLUM LORDS WHO WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY.

EJF is a terrible company. I'm pretty sure the reviews below must be fake-none of them have any information on their google plus and only have one review, which is their review for EJF. Since my review could be open to the same criticism, I encourage you to head over to Yelp where real people actually write reviews, and have given EJF an average 1.5 out of 5 stars (1 star is the lowest) through 28 reviews from real tenants. The majority of reviewers wish they could leave a negative rating as 1 star doesn't do it justice. BBB gives them an "F" rating due to their large number of customer complaints. Don't let the reviews below fool you-scroll down in your search results just a little and you will find just how awful EJF is.

You will find that EJF regularly evicts tenants without cause, are hopeless with maintenance issues, have no standards whatsoever for pest control (you got rats, that's your problem), come into your apartment unannounced (dozens of cases where items have been moved when tenants were at work only later to learn that someone from EJF came by for an "inspection"), take weeks if not months to respond to grievances (and generally their response is tough luck), and all around are high-charging slum lords (they regularly raise rent to the max a few months after you move in without adding any additional benefits). Staff are condenscending and rude, and almost always blame the tenant for any issue, if they even respond in the first place.

EJF is nice enough until the day you sign the lease, then don't expect anything from them for the next 12 months except their hand out for your rent. That's if Patrick Reardon even shows up for his own showings, which is a very big "if."

Oh and that deposit you put down, don't expect that back.

I could go on, but don't take my word for it, see for yourself:

As ongoing board President, I have worked with Sohie on many different issues over the past year and she has handled them all quickly and reasonably. She took the time to come to a board meeting one evening to help us all better understand our riser issues. She is communicative and responsive to requests. She has made recommendations over the past year that have led to the improvement of our building, budget, and community.

We really appreciate her management over the past year and look forward to continuing to work with her in the future.

We closed on our condo sale last week. Tom did a heck of a job, selling the property quickly and well above asking price. I am thankful for all their hard work over the years. They kept my property as stress free as possible, and always found quality tenants in a timely manner. If I ever end up in the DC area again EJF will be the first place I go for real estate needs.

Hiring EJF was definitely the right decision. I was president of the boards at the time and I was definitely impressed with them when we met. Since then I have gotten to know Paul and I have enjoyed working with him. He is calm, knowledgeable and efficient. He is a breath of fresh air and we are lucky to have him. It is so difficulty to find people who care so deeply about their jobs and willing to go the extra mile. Paul is a star. many thanks.

EJF Real Estate really does deserve the City Paper's "Best of DC" designation for Property Management Companies. They have a great system!
