I had never heard of this plac...

I had never heard of this place until the women's ministries at my church informed us that we would be having our annual women's Christmas banquet there this year. My first impression was good. The greeter was nice and so was the surroundings. A young lady came to take my order. I order the surf n turf. Steak cooked medium with sauteed mushrooms, shrimp grilled with a baked potato. I have never ordered a steak without my mushrooms. So she leaves and comes back immediately to inform me that they are out of mushrooms. At that time I say "maybe I will order something else". She tells me that I couldn't because they had already put my steak on the grill. So trying to be a good christian example, I say ok. So everyone starts getting there food and all I've received was the plate with my baked potato, coleslaw, & hush puppies on it. But still I do not say anything because I figure they just couldn't carry out the steak & shrimp all at the same time. Probably 15 minutes goes by before I get the steak & shrimp at which time I asked for A1 sauce. I was informed that they didn't have "A1" but they had an off brand that was just like A1. My response was ok. So the server brings me back an off brand of 57 sauce. I am not a picky person, but any steak eater knows there is a big difference between A1 & 57 sauce and you either like them or you don't. Well I do not like 57. Still, I didn't complain. I sat cutting my very plain steak up trying to eat it anyway without any toppings. I have done this in rare occasions in the past when I have gotten a steak that was so good it didn't need any sauce, but this wasn't the case. So Then she comes and ask if everything is ok, and I said "Are you sure ya'll don't have any A1 somewhere" ( in a polite manner). And she said that she thought she might have seen one bottle that she would go and check. Then she comes back with a bottle of A1. Now usually when I go somewhere, I take what's left over home in a doggy bag, but I couldn't finish it and had no desire to take it home. The steak which I asked for was overcooked past medium. Still I never said anything. I never got a refill on my tea. So on my way out there was a line to pay for our food. A friend of mine ahead of me paid for my food without me knowing it. So she came and told me that she had already paid hers & my bill. They a friend behind me in line told me that she did speak with them about the issues that I had had with my food all night and they informed her that they wouldn't have done anything for me anyway because they didn't like my attitude. So the end result is this: My friend paid $24.00 and change for a meal that I was told I couldn't change, a meal that took forever to come out, a meal that wasn't worth the money that was paid for it. I would have thought that a high class restaurant would know how to cook a steak the way it is asked for, they would know there is a big difference and keep in stock a variety of steak sauces, they would know not to start cooking an order if they do not have all the ingredients that you asked for without letting the customer know first. I have served in restaurants a good bit of my work life, none that high class, but I have never given anyone such bad service in all my life. And the one thing that I learned no matter where I worked was that the customer is always right. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. And if the women choose Courtney Bay for next years banquet, I will go for my church family's sake, but I will be sure to eat somewhere else before I go.
