21 years ago, I was a 18 year old kid who was hanging out with the wrong kids . I was given Al Kubanis as my court appointed lawyer. He told me to plea to a charge of "residential burglary" when I was only an accomplice. This was "a good deal, it's only a strike, you need 3 of them to effect you" this is what he told me verbatim.
I learned that this little "strike" made any subsequent felony charge a mandatory prison sentence.
I spent 8 years in prison only spending only a few months of the year seeing the sun. the 3 strike law had just gone into effect and I believe Mr. Kubanis didn't know the ramifications of the law yet.
this was a long time ago. Even then, he was a nice man. I remember thinking he was getting me the best deal. Nobody in my life has had made such an impact on me due to professional incompetence. I lost almost a decade of life.
I wake up screaming almost every night. Sometimes I wake up crying real tears afraid. There isn't a single night that goes by when I don't go back, and this isn't an exaggeration. Every time I shut my eyes..... the smell, the sounds, the screams, the tears, don't leave me, they resurface in my dreams. I woke up this morning once again.... I see my beautiful daughter and wife. I wipe those dark thoughts out of my eyes and try and see the beauty instead.
I've never written a review in my life. If there was a review for me to write, this is the one. This is the one I wish was written. This is the review I wish I read. This is the review I hope reaches that 18 year old boy I barely remember. Before you place your trust in this man, please remember this man has never taken responsibility for the decisions he's made, inside of a system where voices like mine are never heard -

Mr. Kubanis, goes out of his way to tell you all the facts he knows regarding your case. Every time I had a true concern or question he took the time to explain it to me, so I could understand it. Mr. Kubanis is not only a private attorney, but is used as a court appointed attorney as well. He specializes in criminal defense however has done Civil litigation often.



He does not do family or divorce law, but there are plenty of attorneys in this town to fulfill that role.



I would highly recomend him to any of my family, friends, or inquiries. Who truly believes in his client and that is strongly recomended.
