We will forever be haunted by the experience we suffered through from this company. On the morning of my very dear father's death, we called at 4:30 am for a nurse to come out. We called back several times before his death at 7:20. Even after his passing, no nurse, no anybody. We finally called the sherif department. A nurse showed up as the hearse was taking him away. My dear father laid in that bed for 2 hours after passing before this hospice company bothered to come to his home to help.

My Mom was sent home from rehab almost a week ago with no pain medication. I was called by residential home health and told the nurse would be out the next day. I waited all day that following day and no one came or called. I called them and finally that night the nurse called. She came the next day and seemed as if she was in a hurry. Not very professional either. She said that the physical therapist would call and be out the next day. He called that night and came out the next day as they said. However, he spoke to my Mom like she was a child and was only here maybe 20 minutes. He said that he was only evaluating her and that Monday morning therapy would start. We'll needless to say I was never called and no one came Monday. The Doctor was supposed to come Monday too but someone called me and said the doctor was just n a car accident and she would now have to wait until Thursday to see them. She is in terrible pain and that is unacceptable. I am going to call the EMS this morning and have her taken to Henryford hospital to relieve her pain. I even told them that she will not really eat or drink and has been acting strange. They said Thursday was the best they could do. I would not recommend this company to anyone!

We were introduced to Residential Hospice after my father was told by Karmanos that there were no other treatment options for his bone cancer. We were told that the residential team was available by phone 24 hrs a day but the first time we called into the service with questions, it went to voice mail. We were assigned Amy as our nurse and from the start she seemed rushed to get to her next appt even though she had just arrived. We were not familiar with hospice and Amy made it clear that they were only there to walk us through the process but we would be expected to handle the day to day care which we were already doing. . Her first visit was about 30 mins and then her subsequent visit was 15 - 20 mins tops because she needed to complete her rounds for the day. However, she reassured us that she would be available if we needed her. All we had to do was call the 24 hotline. We did end up calling but Amy's shift is over at 5 pm and we called after that time. The service did send us out a nurse because we thought our Dad was having breathing issues. That nurse was fantastic. She was compassionate and tolerated all our questions. She told us to open our comfort care package and administer the morphine sulfate orally to keep my dad comfortable along with his Ativan. The next day when we called into Amy she questioned who had authorized us to give those meds because nothing had been noted in his file. We asked Amy to send out additional Morphine but she insisted that I measure out how much I had left and then started asking me if I was giving 1/2 cc or 1 full cc when on the dropper it was marked as .20 or .40 so I became confused. When I asked if she could just send out more she told me to call back after 5 pm and then let her know if I was running low. I told her I didn't want to call after 5 pm because then I would get the after hours nurse and not her. To make a long story short, I asked that she remove herself from my fathers case and that her supervisor contact me. She said she would have a supervisor call me. It didn't matter because at 6 pm that night, my father died. I never did get a follow up call from her supervisor. I think that the staff at REsidential Hospice over sold their comfort care services and way undelivered when it came to customer care. Amy lacked compassion when it came to handling our family. I would not recommend residential hospice to anyone and am grateful that we only needed these services for 3 days. - The very disappointed family of Pietro Carlesimo
