Last year I was in St.V's for a follow up from Toledo Hospital where I was over dosed with high blood pressure medicine and dehydration. I could hear comments by staff and relatives of patients who were standing outside my room. The comments were of a personal nature and needed to be addressed privately. I also had an appointment for a procedure this year and was told i was 45 minutes late. I said, read the time I signed in which was more than on time. The time was on the papers they just wrote up. So I was chastised for being late, which I wasn't late instead of telling the women who were signing in patients that they needed to pay more attention, correct their mistakes. People are there for various reasons which can be upsetting depending on the procedures to be done.
While sitting in my room waiting to be seen by a Doctor I could smell a musty odor. I am allergic to mold and this is what it smelled like, a moldy musty room. It took 2 days before the issue was address. Finally a custodian came in the room and removed a vent, took it away, cleaned it and disinfected it and reinserted it in the bathroom. The tiles in the bathroom were filthy, the grout was almost black.
I hope to never have to use St. Vincent's Hospital again.

Hospital Staff, Doctors and Nurses are Great. Billing Department is the Worst I have ever had to Deal with. Over 1 year later and they still can't get it Right.

hello xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx...

My mother has been a patient at St. Vincents a lot over the past 10 years. I have noticed a lot less staff recently. She was a patient last month and continued to tell me that there is no one around to help her when she pushes the call button. I saw this myself. I called three different times on one day and the phone rang 10 times before I hung it up. No one would answer. I called again and told them I was mad because no one would answer the phone on the three times. She sad sorry that they did not have a receptionist that day. I came to see my mother later that day and noticed that all the staff was very busy. I could not find anyone at the nursing station to help my mother with a bath. I asked for a nursing aide to help and was told that they did not have one. This was on the same day that I was told there was not a receptionist. How can my mother get very best care when there is not enough people around to give it.

My mother was just in there last week on a different floor and I noticed the same thing happen on 2 of the 6 days she was there. I talked with another person in the lunch room and they had complained about there was nobody to help them either. She said that she thinks they need more people to work there to.

If you don't mind being treated with little to no respect or like an addict this is the place for you. 4 days after being horribly burned I went to this hospital for treatment. The staff at the front desk is extremely rude and discourteous. Even though I have third, second, and first degree burns the nurses ripped my skin in several places pulling my bandages off violently causing bleeding. When Dr. Dalagiannis finished joking around with his colleagues in the hall he entered the room witnessed me doubled over in pain from the nurses scrubbing my burns and made the decision to cut back my pain pill prescription. Dr Dalagiannis never asked about my pain level nor did he ask me any other questions. He treated me as if I was a training aid for a class and pointed out the different levels of burns and walked out the door. This was all the treatment I received. The only support I received for bandages was a couple of prescriptions for bandages I couldn't obtain (non were provided to even get me though the day). The only way to get the bandages was to either be on Medicare or call up my insurance and have them sent to me in two days. This is the truth and it is very sad. If you get burned or have any other issues do yourself a favor and drive over to Cleveland metro hospital and you will receive star treatment in comparison. Cleveland Metro will take the time to explain everything to you and actually seem like they care about you as an individual. Also the treatment I received was light years ahead of the barbaric procedures still in place at St Vincents.

ICU unit

I received a call from the ER doctor this morning at 0900 eastern time. I am in Clearwater Florida. My wife, Michelle, was in route from Tampa to Chicago on the Amtrak train. She was taken off the train by paramedics in Toledo and taken to St. Vincent.

I have spoken to the attending doctor and the nurse in ICU regarding my wife's care and condition.

I would like to thank the staff for getting in touch with me and keeping me updated about my wife's condition.
