Last April our front-load washing machine malfunctioned, spewing gallons and gallons of water throughout the main floor of our house. Our wood floors begin to warp within a day and within three days the entire main floor was torn up down to the sub-floor; industrial sized fans were positioned through out the house and our walls were covered in plastic. We were lucky to have great insurance that was going to cover most everything but it was still going to be a major project that we would be living with for the next few months. We chose Jim Black Construction based on some recommendations and within a few days we were quoted a price and the process of rebuilding our main floor had begun. From the get go they answered our calls, our questions and made us feel certain that not only would our main floor be rebuilt, but it would be better than it was before. Boy did they deliver! First, every single crew member that came into our home was respectful and kind. We have a family of five kids, three dogs and a cat, so we have a lot of moving parts that sometimes require patience from others! We always had a point person for questions, which helped so much. Additionally, they worked with our insurance company to make sure we understood what was happening, where the money was coming from and going, and what we could expect. The finished product is beyond amazing. They were also honest in their estimates so we didn’t end up with unwelcome surprises. These are good people who do great work. Our home DOES look better than ever, and we can not say enough about the company that helped make it happen. Jim Black and his folks made what could have been a painful process so much easier. JBC did a fantastic job matching the color and pattern of steel siding for one side of our garage rather than having to replace the entire house siding. The workmanship was outstanding. The professionalism was refreshing. We highly recommend Jim Black Construction.

After our rental property cause fire in 2016 and we found out that the damages were so bad that the house had to be stripped to the frame and sub-flooring, we were at a loss and in a bind. USAA insurance highly recommended Jim Black Construction to us and we were so very grateful! The construction team did beautiful work, were prompt and worked together with us with picking out materials that made the house look stunning! Compassionate and Professional are the two words that describe Jim Black Construction. They worked well with our Insurance Company and communicated with us daily on the progress of asbestos abatement and reconstruction after a fire in my Mom's home. My mom is 88 yrs old and has lived in her house for 50 yrs - the finished project was beautiful and my Mom is back in her home. I hired Jim Black Construction to do some repairs on my condo after it sustained significant water damage due to negligent construction by Sun Construction & Design Services, Inc. I thought I'd get the place sale-ready and unload it, but the confidence I have in the beautiful rebuild by Jim Black won't allow me let go of my home. Thank you folks at Jim Black. You have a customer for life.

We recently had a water leak in our basement which caused flooding and called Jim Black Construction. A team was at our house within 2 hours with fans, dehumidifiers and spent the next several hours beginning the repairs. They returned over the next 2 days to check on progress and assess damages. They took care of all the damaged drywall, insulation and mess. They were very easy to work with, kept us informed and were very efficient. They made a difficult situation much easier and I highly recommend them.

I am a field adjuster here in the Colorado area. I have worked with the people at Jim Black Construction for over 10 years. I have found that they deliver high quality work while providing excellent customer service.

Ours was an extensive job.



Fire and smoke damaged the entire interior. The support beam was warped. Nearly every possession in the house was ruined. We were left standing on the curb that night with only the clothing on our backs.



We met Jimmy Black the next day, and after a few comps, chose this company to start the work.



Throughout, we feel like we were always kept in the loop. The process was explained to us very well; the insurance process also. We received weekly updates (sometimes more) during the 9 month restoration.



We couldn't be happier. The space which after the fire caused us so much sadness and anxiety, was completely new, beautiful and so different than before. We were able to move back "home," even after the trauma because of changes we were able to make along the way.



The workmanship was great. Communication was great. The followup with warranty issues after the build has been tremendous.

By the time my six year old told me, “Mommy our floor seems bumpy here,” our refrigerator line had been leaking for three days and the water was beginning to warp our surrounding hardwood floor. Jim Black Construction came to our house within a couple hours of my phone call and immediately went to work to mitigate any further damage to our floors and walls. They even found damage that had gone into our powder room behind the refrigerator that we didn’t know was there. Each mitigation and construction crew that came to our home through the entire repair process was professional and polite. We were impressed that they took care to minimize dust and disturbance to the rest of the house with their protective coverings. Jim Black Construction was the GC on all work and made an unpleasant situation much easier. I would recommend them to anyone who finds herself in a similar unexpected water damage restoration.

We had a house fire back in 2008. I hired Jim Black for the rebuild of the house. What a fantastic job. I also hired them for hail damage a few years later and also for water damage to a rental property. I would not keep going back to them if I was not completely satisfied with them. I also have recommended them to a work colleague who just recently had a complete loss due to a house fire. I also recommended them to other friends and coworkers they are great to work with and if I ever need them again they will be the first company I will call. Everybody from Jim to his son Jimmy and the superintendent Tony and all the crews they hired are top notch professional personable people to work with.

wow..we must be working with 2 different companies. my garage burned down and did in most of the house with smoke and water damage.

everything but the frame of the house was gone. today i have a new house built to 2013 standards. yes they missed completion by a little and there were minor issued after we moved back in. they were taken care of! happy camper as they say!

HORRIBLE!!!!Run for your life and hold on to your wallet!!! This company lies, cheats, NEVER shows up when they are supposed to and then shows up when they are not supposed to be there. HORRIFIC work, bait and switch, one of the all-time worst companies ever! I wish I could give it negative 5 stars!

I recently had some extensive ceiling, roof, & trim work done on my home. I found Jim Black construction and his team of professionals to be communicative, accommodating, and expedient. The house was completed in a timely manor and now looks terrific. I recommend giving them a call for your projects big or small. I am very pleased overall with their services and am glad that I chose them to work on my home. I took comfort in their abilities and respect what I am seeing as pride in workmanship. Thank You!!!

Jim Black Construction rebuilt our roof and the entire inside of our home after a fire and we highly recommend them. Work progressed on a timely basis and all the subcontractors were very skilled and reliable, plus seemed genuinely interested in making us as happy as possible. Couldn't be more satisfied with the results.

This man claims to be so honest. Tells how he will take care of everything. He plays on your anquish immediately after you house burns down. Then he takes advantage of you every step of the way. He doesn't follow the insurance claim. He puts in seconds for cabinets, cardboard for moulding, the plumbing won't work, you will have sewage in your basement, your breakers will trip, etc. Your house will never have the quality it had. The finish work is disgusting. This man is a crook. DO NOT use him.

Okay here it is the truth about Jim Black Construction. They hire illegal emigrants to work for there company. They hire these people has long as the trade name is in someone else's name. The hardwood floor contractor is illegal working off of a stolen identity. Everyone in the company is well aware that this man is illegal and they turn a blind eye. The only thing they are concerned with is that it looks good for the government if they check the files.Not only that he has a criminal history and charges pending for a Criminal Menacing case out of Lakewood on the 6th of Feb. And also has 3 DUI cases from the past. This man will drink on your property and the owner of the trade name stays wasted in the van on a daily basis. This is the type of people that they will send to your homes with your family and children. So if you want to hire this company you man want to background check on who ever they send to your property.

I just wanted to take a few minutes to come on and say how pleased I was with Jim Black Construction. When my basement flooded last month due to bad pipes in a rental property of mine, I called Jim Black Construction. They came right out that day and within a few weeks, my insurance company and Jim Black worked together to restore my property with really little to no hassle on my end. I would not hesitate to use Jim Black again for any restoration needs I might have! Thanks

This company was hired in May 2009 to replace two sump pumps which had failed in my condominium. In July 2009, one of the pumps came loose, reflooding the basement. Jim Black Construction failed to take responsibility for the poor workmanship of the sump pump comin loose, in effect saying "It happens." In addition, Mr Black and his representatives fraudulently claimed there was mold in the walls, although no one could provide credentials as a certified mold specialist. Mr Black also called his competitor, who had been in to clean up in May, "Incompetent." I assume this was an effort to obtain my business. Moreover, during the May incident, when only hired to replace the sump pumps, Mr Black and his representatives conducted a complete investigation of my basement without my knowledge or consent. Again, my assumption is this was done in an effort to pressure me into doing business . I believe this organization shows a lack of profesionalism and ethics and I would not hire them.
