My shoulder is normal again, no more pain, no more limited use! You can't even see the scars from surgery. Dr. Smith was personable and explained everything to my wife and I clearly. His staff is amazing also.

Recommend him to everyone!

Wonderful, professional doctor. I had a disk slip and I was in excruciating pain. He clearly described my condition, prognosis and all my options. Nothing was sugar-coated and he didn't pressure me into making a decision. The surgery went splendid and I'm back to new a month later.

This monster is a complete hack and should be jailed for what he did to my brother. He again left an infection in his leg in a surgery 18 years ago. since then my brother has had to declare bankruptcy, lost his job and has been cut short of living a full life like he was before his accident. Healthcare people in the area refer to him as BIRRELL THE BUTCHER. If you have to see this guy, don't. If you get referred to him, run the other way. Dr. Frankenstein would be a better choice. Rot in hell Birrell.

Incredibly poor responsiveness to critical care decisions with absolutely poor surgical skill. Has the highest rate of infection in SLO county. He decided that the best intervention for the infection I had post surgery was "rest it" yet the infectious disease doctor who I saw at the hospital under advice from a friend who was a nurse said "it is a good thing you came in when you did, otherwise you likely would have lost your finger or needed some significant reconstruction. I'm glad you came to see us now so you can keep your finger." ONE OF THE WORST BUTCHERS I HAVE EVER SEEN and despite tons of rehab with the best in the business I'm left with about 75% function in my dominant hand. Wish Dr. Sima would've been on call that day!!!

When I dislocated my shoulder I really had no idea what to do. My arm was uncomfortable after it was relocated and I needed to see a professional. I am so happy I found this office. I saw Dr. Birrell Smith and he put me at ease.

I had many pains and difficulties over the course of a year after the operation, but I found Dr. Smith to be incredibly attentive every time I visited him.

Dr. Smith was very straightforward with his questions and the exam. Once I explained my problem, he knew exactly the cause and with a few simple tests, he was able to prescribe a treatment. I liked his no-nonsense approach and he was polite and friendly throughout.

A wonderful and professional orthopedic surgeon...he did a great arthroscopic procedure on my left knee.

I have recommended Dr. Smith to friends and family. After a little bit of rehab and physical therapy, we made the decision to go with surgery. After the surgery, I couldn't believe how much better I felt!

The front staff are competent and friendly. If you call in, they'll be able to answer questions. Dr. Smith is very nice and helped me get back into tip-top shape with all his advice and training sessions.

I had a torn rotator cuff and it was difficult to raise my arm above my shoulder. He got me in right away! Dr. Smith gave me good, clear advice and had me in physical therapy immediately after my procedure. I’m working out in the pool now and can do household activities without pain.

Dr. Smith diagnosed my knee and determined that I was an excellent candidate for a partial knee replacement. Surgery was perfect! Now I walk and workout pain free.

The office staff are professional, competent, and very friendly. They really provide the best patient care possible. Dr. Smith is phenomenal and extremely knowledgeable.

I am very happy to have me Dr. Smith, He's very good at what he does and professional, He can count on me coming back and thank you for your care. He's not there just for the money, but for the patient's well being. Great man.

He's intelligent and knowledgeable in his field. I've only heard great things about him so when I needed help with my knee, Dr. Birrell Smith came to my rescue.

He's the best doctor and his staff are equally great as they're a stellar staff that provides patients with excellent care and service. Definitely one of the best offices I've been too.
