The blocks and bridges child care center is the best place which is child centered. The owner dr brightwell is all the time taking care of the kids which is greatness of her. She is their for the kids to take care of even the smallest problem, all the time on her toes looking after the kids. This place is like a home for kids unlike other centers which will be like 5 star hotels but kids do not have freedom of doing anything but in Dr. Brightwell 's child care center it is home for kids they are happy they can play they are taken care off.It is the best place for kids to explore. Dr Brightwell teaches the kids herself in addition to the teachers. If she feels they need extra help she sits with them and teaches them on one to one. She is their for the kids and her place is child centered. She has excellent staff working with her.I love this child care center and highly recommend if you want that your kids should feel at home and should be taken care .Dr Brightwell along with her staff works on each and every child and make sure they get the best.Great child care center with a Great leader. No words to explain. From a parent

Our daughter was happy there. She made friends and loved it! Of course kids can be kids and accidents happen. I remember getting calls that she fell or her and another kid bumped into each other. I reacted normally, asked if she was ok and if he other child was. Another time she must have scratched herself during nap time and woke up with a cut on her face. During pick up we were surprised to see this so we asked the teacher what happened and all was fine. We decided not to enroll for the year as she was accepted to another program. 1.5 yr later I called to ask about openings for my younger dtr. I was told there was room and set up an apt. to visit. Before the apt the director calls to tell me that she can't accept my child b/c her teachers felt that they were being blamed for the above mentioned incidents. There should always be open dialogue between teachers and parents. If they are uncomfortable speaking to parents then clearly she needs to spend more time training them.

My child has been enrolled in this center for a couple of years now. He has always been a bit shy and on the quiet side. This center is so amazing because every time I would stay for a while in the morning to observe on hiding, which the center would always allow me to do, the teacher would always keep him engaged and include him and every child in the activities. He is always happy and has opened up so much more because of the structure, consistency, and love. The teachers are all just wonderful in every way. My child is always clean and they helped us so much with his potty training that at the age of 3 he is in underwear. The atmosphere is so loving and full of energy also. My wife and I couldn't be happier. Thank you Dr. Brightwell and staff for everything that you guys do. We love you all!!!!

I cannot be happier with Brightwell Center and it's wonderful staff. My daughter was enrolled at 17 months through Pre-K. It took a couple of weeks for her to get adjusted. The teachers made it so easy to make her a part of the Brightwell family. I am very grateful to Dr.Brighwell and all the teachers for their professionalism and kindness as my daughter was developing. I appreciate the restrictions on food to all kids for safety and health reasons. Potty training was done very well, based on my daughters' development and well coordinated with my husband and I. As my daughter grew, teachers provided crucial knowledge in writing and reading skills, as well as geography, history, and basic human ethics.Thank You, Dr.Brightwell for this Teaneck Gem. Olga C

I enrolled my daughter in this center when she was 18 months old. The teachers are all wonderful and the Director, who also has a PHD, is very loving, straightforward, caring, and a wonderful person in general. My child who is now is kindergarten, has learned so much and they do so many activities and in prek they expose the children to geography, current events, class discussions, following directions, etc. we couldn't be happier and would definitely recommend this center to everyone.

Disappointed

My husband + I used The Brightwell Center (formerly Blocks & Bridges) for 4 yrs for our 2 children. The teachers loved our children. Good experiences for 3 yrs. During our last yr, our youngest went through a short biting phase-mostly at school, rarely at home. The Dir told us we were “going to ruin” our son if we did not “scare him” to stop his behavior. Also said she has been able to pinpoint which child will end up in jail when talking about my 2-year old. He is in no way a perfect child, but that was outrageous! We asked about having more consistency at school-no regular teacher + each was responding differently. The Dir said problem was all about parenting. She decided to move him to Pre-K classroom anyway. The biting stopped once he had consistent teacher. During last month, our youngest (same child) was potty training, which TBC does not help with. I took time off work to be home w/him. He was ready! We were home for 5 days, w/only 3 accidents in 1st 2 days. Only wearing a diaper for nap + bedtime. I emailed Dir and teacher to let them know what we did at home. I brought extra clothes in case of accidents. I requested they only use a diaper for nap. He had 1 accident on 1st day. TBC was NOT supportive. Dir sent home a page-long note, insisting he stay in diaper, said changing clothes + diapers takes time away from the prgrm + routine. Putting back in a diaper is confusing to a child. This was 1 accident, + changing clothing + diapers is part of working at a day care center. Once we registered at new center, I notified TBC stating the next month would be their last at TBC. Dir wasn t there. I handed letter to Office Manager, who was sweet + said the kids would be missed. The next day, I received a letter from Dir, stating she thought it was best if the children’s last day were that Friday! She included reimbursement check for the following month. Since no exit interview, I sent short email to Dir thanking her for 4 years of service to our children. I communicated my goal to transition smoothly from TBC + end on good terms. I expressed my disappointment that the children weren t able to stay the final month – to have more than 2 days to say goodbye to their teachers + friends, who have been in their lives every day for past 4 years – also bc TBC is aware of how rigid our oldest is + how difficult it is for him to transition. Dir responded w/long email, saying that I m a young parent + I need to control my emotions, that she didn t want unhappy parent in her establishment (I always smiled + wished her a good day), that she was offended I didn t give her the letter personally, + that we didn t give her teachers holiday gifts this year. Please note I m a F/T employee, grad student, intern, + mom of 2. I usually send a card w/small gift. This year, I was so overwhelmed, I didn t even send out cards to family. Email also called me arrogant + unappreciative w/poor decision-making + that the termination was my own fault. She ended the rant by stating that we now have another center w/which to compare TBC + I will then appreciate the service we had. Thankfully the new center was able to start services early. I was worried how they would handle the abrupt change. It went beautifully! Kids are doing gross motor skills activities they never did at TBC! Having so much fun while doing it! Staff is so supportive + very involved w/parents, including daily emails about the kids + what to ask them at home. Great w/potty training! After the 1st week, they wanted to start trying him w/out a diaper at naptime! The comparison is no contest. We absolutely made the right decision for our children! We had many good memories at TBC, but I would never recommend bc of outrageous comments made by Dir + bc ...

Our son is a toddler and has been in this center for quite a while now. We couldn't be happier elsewhere. This center provides everything that we were looking for in a daycare center for our child. The teachers love the children so very much. The program is very well structured and they do so much with the kids. We love it there and our son more :-)

We've been using this center since our child was 15 months old. She's still there two years later. We have been extremely happy with The Brightwell Center. They are serious about child care, the safety and welfare of the children, and education. They are also respectful to the children and parents. They care more about the children than the money.

I have a 3 1/2 year old who attends the brightwell center and is in the Pre-k class. She is learning so much . They started learning time in mid-September and it is now mid-October and she knows 14 states so far . They do geography and she loves it. Also, the teacher, mrs.b, is so kind, and caring. She does so much with them by following the director's daily structured schedule. It's awesome ! She comes home and tells me all these amazing things she learns daily. The children are always happy, clean, always kept engaged and interacted. The doors are always open and the center has cameras in each class that are in 24/7. I love this place and the director is so cool and has a phd and so many years of experience. It feels like home, honestly ! It's the best daycare in my opinion as a parent who has been there for a couple of years.

I would reccomend this center to all. Loving environment. loving and caring teachers, My son who is now 5, attended The brightwell Center for Children for 4 years. He is very bright, well mannered, knows all his ABC's, numbers, shapes, colors, and number from 1-30. He also knows how to write his name and they study geography and current events. The director is genuine and will always update you on your child. I love this place and I wish I had more children to send to this center.
