I wanted to let everyone know of a horrible and unprofessional experience I had with Star Electric in Taylorville, Illinois...and this happened after service.

A big storm went through my town, knocking down trees causing them to fall on powerlines, resulting in much damage that needed repaired. A neighbor's tree fell in our alley, pulling down the power line, which pulled the power line connection from our home.

I called Star Electric, and yes...they were quick to come out, and they did the repair quickly, and we had our power back on that night.

Before they left our house, I had started writing a check to pay them. I was told don't bother paying today, we will send you a bill. Over a month went by, we never received a bill.

I wanted to make sure that bill was paid, so I called them and it was an oversight on their part for not sending a bill. They then sent a bill...a HUGE bill. They were on our property for around 1-1 1/2 hours and their business is 10-15 minutes away from my house. So even with travel time...it would still be under two hours.

So I called again to ask why the bill was so high. He gave a partial explanation, but it still didn't really explain the excessive bill. At that time they agreed to take $100 off the massive bill. But he also told me that he was charging me for 4 1/2 hours worth of work.

They called us again today, asking why we haven't paid the bill yet. I asked for a breakdown on how they came up with 4 1/2 hours work, when including travel time should have been no more than 2 hours. He immediately raised his voice to me, yelling and cursing. I told him I'm speaking to him calmly, not raising my voice or cursing, and was simply asking him to give me the breakdown on the 4 1/2 hours. He refused to give me the breakdown, and continued yelling and cursing at me, then finally telling me he'd be turning the bill into the credit collection agency.

His total unprofessionalism was jaw-dropping. I will let him take me to court, and then maybe I can get that breakdown on how he came to 4 1/2 hours, when including travel time it should have been no more than 2 hours total.
