I have been training with Master Ingle for over a year now and find his understanding of self defense and the martial arts on target, there is a difference. I have been so impressed with his practical self defense approach that we are working together to upgrade his facility and bring together other like minded individuals under one roof. Join us this summer at the Martial Arts & Self Defense Academy in Tallahassee.

I have learned more about real life practical self defense in six months with Master Jerry than I did spending 14 years in Tae Kwon Do. The individualized attention, time devoted to cardio and reviewing the fundamentals, and constant encouragement make this school very user-friendly. In fact, I have been so impressed with the format of this curriculum... I have allowed my 6 and 4 year old daughters to begin practicing... and they absolutely love it. Anyone considering trying a self-defense program for the first time should check out Master Jerry's program of study. This program is not for scoring points or winning trophies... this program is for getting in shape, increasing your focus and self-confidence, and preparing you to be proactive in a potential life or death situation. Stop by and experience it for yourself.

My kids have been going here for over 4 years, the instructors are wonderful, my kids adore them and I love the location. I've read the negative reviews posted here and would like to say I think they are bogus and unfounded... in response to "B&C" we were all very happy that the former instructors left, I felt that they took all the bad energy out of this school.

This is an excellent place to learn self-defense for people of all ages and fitness levels. I have been going here for years and truly do not understand the negative reviews on this page. While it is true that some members left a few years ago to form their own school, to say that the quality is poor or that the school has abandoned the elements of karate is completely absurd. The instructors here are competent, experienced and want to help you succeed. If you are looking to get in shape and want to learn something while doing it, this is the place for you.

My kids love going to class here, it's both challenging and rewarding. Master Jerry is excellent with his students, he asserts discipline with kindness---something all children benefit from, and he does it well. I definitely recommend if your thinking of attending this school.

Nice padded reviews all within a couple of days..!!! The entire teaching staff some of more than 10 years all walked out of this school about two years ago. Most of the blackbelts left with them and since that time this school has disregarded everything karate is about... just to get more and the quality has fallen sharply. Most there now dont know any better.

Master Jerry Ingle sincerely encourages all students and is there every day teaching classes, His assistants are all knowledgable black belts too! There are classes for all ages and levels. Me & my family have been attending for a year and love to go!

Great workout, the instructors are encouraging yet demanding, it's a good skill to have, never the same workout. The whole place has a terrific vibe such that everyone is encouraged to succeed. Great place!

After researching several schools to provide instruction to my elementary aged son, I was sold after talking to Master Jerry. He is level-headed, kind and patient with the students and parents. The instructor's are interested in seeing the students succeed, not just test for another belt. We started classes several months ago and I couldn't be more please with the results. My son has much more confidence in all areas of his life, and feels like the Master's at the center care about him, will listen and help him if he doesn't understand. Discipline is a key part of the instruction which lends itself to increased focus and achievement. Self-defense is taught through contact sparring to teach how to actually use the forms/kenpo's introduced in class.

I have been in the kickboxing class for over a year and it is the best workout. Don't mistaken this for an aerobic kickboxing class, this class TEACHES you strikes, blocks, and how to defend yourself in certain situations. My strength and flexiblity have grown tremendously. The times are convenient to students as well as 9-5'ers like myself. The instructors are informative, helpful and entertaining. I strongly recommend this class to anyone.

My two kids have been going here for almost one year. They love it and my kids don't take to just any teacher. Master Jerry is firm but kind. I chose Kenpo because it has a focus on character building along with the self defense focused martial art.

The kenpo style enhanced with self defense allows students to understand the martial art and practice while equpping them with useful safety and self defense tactics. Compentent, friendly and dedicated instructors allow students to progress so that attaining the next level or color of belt is earned without anxiety. The school allows an interested person to try a free class to see for him or herself how learning is conducted. Moreover, for one monthly fee, a student can attend several weekly classes at times and days to accommodate most schedules. This is the best--best exercise, best environment, best value among all types of fitness clubs and gyms. After three years, I am hooked for a lifetime.

I've been teaching in public schools and museums for over twenty years now and my standards are high. Having tried other studios, this was a good fit for me because it provides a structured, positive environment with clear goals and objectives. The fact that only appointed instructors are allowed to teach (well-meaning students may not) ensures that you learn new concepts clearly and safely the first time around. Dedicated students of any age will do well here and the fees are modest.

In the art of self defense there has never been any art more assertive and affective then the art of kenpo. Master Ingle is the BEST instructor, point blank. I've studied under him for years and I firmly refuse to study anywhere else. What you learn in this school will change your life, for the better. This school is the best. I've been studying at this dojo for years and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Everyone at this school knows what there doing and has a great deal of respect for all the other students. We're like one big family.

I've been studying under Master Ingle for ten years now, reason being he's the best. There is no substitute for this school and no one else could hold a candle to this school.

I have been a kickboxing student at Kenpo Karate since October, 2009 and I absolutely love it!!!! The positive and welcoming environment allows anyone to come in and reach their full mental and physical potential. Master Jerry Ingle is extremely experienced and patient and will teach you all you need to know about self defense and martial arts. If you want to improve your quality of life then Kenpo Karate is the place to be! :)!!

I've taken kenpo previously at another school when I was younger. I have been at this school for 3 years and enjoy it very much. I was able to retain rank from the previous school and continue where I left off. This school has a very structured system and lineage can be traced. What makes this school different than others is that it focuses on physical training which we do for 15-20 mins and covers self defenses including weapon attacks. As for mirrors, they're in there so you can see yourself doing techniques correctly and at the right targets. And smoke? Really is that a concern? In all my years here, there's never been anyone smoking inside.This school has been open for 15 years in Tallahassee. Come try a free class and see for yourself.

I have been with the school for some time know and love it. The instructors are very knowledgeable and offer wonderful advice on real life self defense. I have benefited from the school, not only in the fighting style, but in my focus and self confidence as well. Would recommend anyone to come and learn.

I have been taking kenpo here for 2yrs, I enjoy the way master Jerry teaches practical defense, things that normal people could encounter any day. For example knife and stick defense, my two favorites. Don't be taken advantage of, learn to defend yourself.
