It’s a daunting task to clean out an estate. Then is the undertaking of choosing an auction house that is a perfect fit to sell the contents. For a successful outcome, you need to make an informed decision taking into consideration the following:
• Who are their buyers?
• What products to they sell, and what services do they offer?
• Where and how do they advertise upcoming auctions?
• Why are the marketing channels effective?

I shared with my client what I learned about South Jersey Auction by Babington Auction Inc. They sell to wholesalers, with whom Rob the owner has built a relationship with over the years, as well as individuals. Wholesalers line the dock ready to load their finds. Rob might tell you what you don’t want to hear; however, he believes in transparency. Rob is a first-class, well-informed auctioneer. He takes into consideration what his buyers are looking for and the price the market will bear. Rob also balances that with what a client’s goals and objectives are. Working on commission, Rob can easily take your contents, auction them off, and not care what price your items brings. That is not how Rob Babington does business. Building relationships based on trust, and transparency is how he runs his auction house. Moreover, you will find that work ethic throughout his entire staff.

His wife Lisa runs the office, with Stacy, who are personable, professional, and follow-through, which is a rarity today. My first contact was with Stacy. My conversation with her gave me a positive first impression. Then, I showed my client the marketing efforts that are in place to promote each auction. We looked at photos of an upcoming auction. The photographer knows how to take pictures that brings out the special features of your items. Sign up for the e-newsletter, sent out electronically before each auction. See something you like, you can bid on-line. Then, there were videos of items, as well as YouTube videos of auctions where Rob auctioneered items. Every auctioneer has his/her own style, and Rob’s highlights the passion he has for his craft.

His crew that loaded my client’s contents is respectful and hard working. The contents filled two 24’ trailers and Rob’s van. The day prior to the auction, you can preview items. Then, comes the day of the auction, which is an experience in of itself. Beyond, the seamless operation, and what my client’s item sold for, I observed how all the staff interacted with each other, buyers, and sellers. Customer service, hard work, and a strong work ethic were evident. Horsey, who helped load the trailer, when out of his way when he saw me to let me know that if there was anything I needed to let him know. With approximately 28 houses loaded in one week for Horsey to remember me spoke volumes about the culture of South Jersey Auction by Babington Auction. Rob treats all his employees with respect, and that is an admirable trait. They met my client’s expectations, and exceeded mine!

Never again will I take anything here! Items sold for nothing! Then items that didn't sell were thrown away in less than 24 hrs after the auction, and they had the nerve to charge me a fee for throwing away items I wanted back! They are no help at all, and only worry about taking there cut! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!!
