I was a customer of Kevin's for several years and easily spent $1000/year taking care of computer needs; I run a small business and need reliability. Kevin repeatedly told me never to go with Dell because their products were inferior; all while I suffered through numerous crashes (one of Kevin's -- expensive -- computers usually lasted about 8 months before absolutely massive failure), paid mega $$ for failed RAID utility setup and backup options trying to establish redundancy, etc.

When I told him that I couldn't afford all this downtime, he said, "Your clients are unreasonable to expect that you can be completely reliable." (No, they're not.) That attitude cost me clients and money. It took me a while to understand that things weren't going to get better, but I did eventually get it. Enough.

I bought a Dell, in 2008, and have since bought one more. Both are great, well built machines; notably, the older Dell is still running seamlessly at almost four years old with the exception of a hard drive crash after two years, not eight months (easily fixed). Also notable, when I opened the case to replace the hard drive, it was a Western Digital; no inferior equipment there, unlike what Kevin tried to assert.

I have no more problems trying to maintain current files with both computers in case one crashes, either, and the solution didn't cost me hundreds of dollars. A simple $20 piece of Laplink software (circa 2000) provides me all the reliable backup I need between computers, no being sold a bill of goods on expensive, useless RAID utilities.

My computer costs have dropped precipitously. They're literally 10% of what they were when I tried to use Kevin's services.

In four years, I've bought two computers for a total of $1020 for both. That, and I replaced one hard drive for $60 and bought backup software for $20. With the exception of the occasional replaced hard drive, I expect I won't be spending anything else any time soon.

Much more importantly, though, I haven't had a moment's downtime or a single lost client because of a computer crash. My clients are not being "unreasonable" when they simply expect me to get the job done, and Kevin's attitude was unconscionable.

I guess maybe Kevin thought he was just selling himself when he tried to dissuade me from using Dell, and that, I actually understand. I'd probably still be using his products and services if *they* weren't actually inferior to what Dell provides (not the other way around). I just got fed up and needed a change, and I only wish I'd done it sooner. I got duped because I was naive and had no reason to question. I should have. Learn from my mistake.

I should clarify that I'm in no way affiliated with Dell, just relieved that I finally found a reliable solution for my computer needs. If you need inexpensive reliability with no hassles, go with Dell. You will not be sorry.
