Since its inception, HeartBeats has attracted an exceptional faculty in both its music and dance departments, providing a one-stop location for the entire family's artistic needs by offering lessons in a wide variety of musical instruments and voice along with classes in most new and traditional dance styles, musical theater, song and dance, and summer arts camps. Students at HeartBeats, through its resident performing arts troupes, have performed at Carnegie Hall, Disney World, Universal Studios, on the SS Ocean Breeze cruise ship, and at the Year 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia ( see Miracle on Broadway for an amazing story about how all this came about ) Our dance company competes in local and regional talent competitions, perform in local community events, and often participate in Dance Conventions and Master Classes both locally and in New York City and elsewhere. Most recently we offered our own Master Classes with Karla Garcia, one of this seasons top 7 finalists on So You Think You Can Dance. We look forward to an encore class with Karla this fall. The HeartBeats Center features seven spacious private music studios, a group classroom, and three large dance studios comprising over 2, 500 square feet of fully-cushioned professional floating dance floors. These are configured with moveable sound walls to allow a full stage-size performance space for productions, rehearsals, music recitals and social events. Families at the Center also enjoy a spacious waiting area with video and vending machines along with high speed wireless internet connection. Visitors are greeted by a beautiful hand-painted garden fresco in the entrance foyer. Family members can also multi-task while waiting by visiting the many other fine stores and restaurants in the Saratoga Center or Costco just down the road. HeartBeats is open year-round and is conveniently located on Rolling Road, one mile south of the Fairfax County Parkway.

We left the studio, because it is a horrible environment for children. The owner books late night parties which get out of hand and 5 times in the past 6 months the police has been called due to teenage alcohol and fights. Due to complaints in the neighborhood, WUSA9 did a feature on this problem and it aired on March 15, 2016. During the interview the owner blamed parents for the 5 times the police were called. In the past few years, 2 students have been injured due to the conditions left from parties the night before. One dancer sliced a tendon in her foot, from a broken beer bottle embedded in the floor. The studio is also extremely dirty, it has been a long time since anything has been cleaned. It is shame, because the studio does feature some very good dance teachers. The owner has yet to take any responsibility for the issues described above. Due to safety and hygiene concerns, we no longer frequent the studio.

Management doesn't bother to return phone calls or email, and charges aren't well explained. Instruction itself wasn't bad, but the studio on a whole can't be trusted.

Stay far from Heartbeats. This is a horrible environment for children! The studio has been in trouble with the police quite a bit over the past year for throwing late night parties that get out of hand and have been know to break out in fights. The local TV station WUSA9 did a segment on Heartbeats on March 5, 2016, about the police being called in for out of control parties. The owner was interviewed and on camera he blamed the parents for the 5 times the police had been called over the past 6 months.

Our daughters used to dance here and we ended up leaving due to the owners lack of concern for children. I won't even go into how dirty the studio is. I recommend a tetanus shot prior to entering.

Below are live videos shot from one of his parties.

The owner Rockley Miller taking time off for health purposes coupled with the loss of dance director Windy Queen has taken a huge toll on HeartBeats in a very short amount of time. The new management does not seem to care about the children's well being and development as much as they care about their competition team. They are short and curt with customers. The once positive atmosphere that thrived here before has quickly diminished.

A great family-oriented place that offers lessons for a variety of instruments. Easy commute from Fort Belvoir. My girls take piano lessons here (ages 6 and 4). We have two different instructors to match my kid's needs and personalities. They'll even offer lessons for itty bitty ones if the child has interest. They are very patient and talented instructors. They hold music recitals often inside the studio. It's not over the top or intimidating for young children, but professionally done. The owner records each performance in high def and posts them to their YouTube channel. You can easily view, share, and keep a record of your child's progress throughout the year(s)! Love it, especially because my husband travels a lot, and was able to view it over the internet! I highly recommend this place. My kids are much more motivated to practice and perform than they were in our first studio in GA. The price change was a shocker, but it is well worth it.

Great studio! The dance staff provides a positive learning environment with a focus on safe development of the dancer. Miss Windy treats every student as if they are family. The staff have strong relationships with one another. It is easy to see the dance staff are true professionals, who believe in furthering their education. I know some have recieved awards for excellence in their field. One does not have to be in the recital but if you decided to, all cost are known from the very beginning with no hidden fees. There is no doubt we were home from the start! Thanks Mr. Rockely and Ms. Windy

Great place. I have two daughters enrolled in ballet and they both love it. Good, patient teachers. We're very happy with Heartbeats.

Great family-friendly studio that offers a great mix of competitive and recreational dance classes along with a fully array of music lessons. This studio seems to have found the right balance for dancers that want to pursue their passion for dance while still having a life apart from the studio. They have an incredible program for the young entry-level dancers and are very accommodating to the special challenges facing the military families new to the area. Very friendly teachers and staff that creat a very positive environment for all their families. Highly recommend.
