Took a chance and stopped in at Ticos because I was having problems with the starter on a 95 GMC sierra. Right from the start, I could tell that Ticos was a very honest and reliable service shop for my vehicles. I'm still having some issues with the truck, but I know that they will take care of my issues. I've been in the area over 20 years and have been through most of the auto repair shops in town, no one do I trust my vehicles more with than Ticos.

I took my SUV to have brakes done awesome job, courteous and honest. The one report if she can't spell Tico right you were not there.

I took my Kia SUV to get a complete tuneup including oil filter and new oil, replace the timing belt, trans axle checked, transmission flushed and new fluid put in,

I took it BACK two more times to have Rico fix the rough running engine! NEVER did make it right!!!

My Kia Sorrento ran 99% better BEFORE I took it to Rico!!!

Tico's Automotive is a locally-owned shop, and Tico is that rare honest, intelligent mechanic with an entrapenurial spirit and a sense of compassion. About these negative reviews: No, he won't quote a firm price before checking your car, because, unlike other mechanics, he'll only charge you for what actually needs to be fixed. Yes, sometimes you have to wait a short time, but guess what? When *you have an emergency, he'll work *you in. I'll drive to Tico's from South Reno for an oil change-that's my level of loyalty and trust.

We've been going to Tico for several years now and will continue to take our vehicles to his shop. His expertise and knowledge have served my family well, as we are thankful there is someone in town who genuinely cares about his customers. He and his staff are always professional and straight forward - thanks Tico for all what you do!

I took my Rodeos to Tico for 10 years and I always got good service and I felt, fair prices. He was a pleasure to deal with and I never had any problems there. I have a new Honda now and as soon as the warranties go off, I will take it to him.

I have taken two vehicles to Tico for over 7 years and the service has been great. He's always honest and has never recommended anything that wasn't necessary. He's even advised me about my older cars when they're not worth fixing. I drive from South Reno to his garage just because of how much we trust him. Always great service.

I have been going to this shop for many many years, and i am always happy with this service, they go above and beyond for you, he is always honest and never offered me something I didn't need. I wouldn't go anywhere else, the owner is trustworthy and very friendly, I love their service and I would recommend them 100% :)

I really don't understand the negative reviews? I and my family have taken all our automobiles to Ticos and never , never had anything but top notch service!! The price and quality of his work on our vehicles is the best in town bar none!! He also is a very generous sponsor of Sparks High School athletics. He also went personally to a senior citizens house to do repair work right in her drive way because she was to ill to make it into the shop! Do not pay attention to people who are negative! Try Tico for youre self and youre wallet and automobile will never run better!!!

This man will NEVER give you a straight answer to anything! We took our Ford 4x4 in to him because it was running rough we had gotten some bad fuel on a trip so thought it needed a new fuel pump he put in two new ones and no improvement Tico had our truck for a week and $1000.00 later we picked up the vehicle not 1 mile from the shop truck was running just as if we had never taken it in. He is really bad about letting you know what is going on, and he is a lier!!!!!!

I hated to see this bad review! I've been taking my car to Tico for TEN years - when it was Econo Lube n'Tune. Then he went independent about a year ago, using his own name. He's highly intelligent, and never says you need something done to your car if you don't! When you get work done he charges a very reasonable and FAIR price. I've referred other people there, and everyone is amazed!



Kudos to Tico and I will continue to recommend and support his business!

I have always been leery of this guy. My Mother and Grandmother have always been fans of Tico over the years. He can never give a specific or accurate price on anything. He always seems scatter brained and in a hurry. Just recently he told my grandmother to have me take her car in after 1pm to get her brakes and window looked at. (ps- she also asked him if he accepted AMEX.. he said he did accept it) I arrived at 115pm and he informed me that he was busy, only had 1 mechanic in,but would take my car back to get the process started. 10 minutes later he comes in the "office" and stated that my brakes do look old, and that he wouldn't be able to do them until tomorrow because he only had 2 mechanics in. First he said 1 mechanic, then 10 minutes later said he only had 2.. I was extremely upset as I live in South Reno. His actions validated my reasons as to why I was ALWAYS leery of this guy. I would NOT suggest this guy ever again. Why would he think that we asked if he accepted AMEX for a FREE ESTIMATE?!?! Then, as he pulled my car around so I could leave, he quickly (in his scattered voice) said "oh and it looks like the window regulator is out... sorry" then scurried off. Don't waste your time! There's a reason it went from ECONO AUTO LUBE to TICOS AUTO SHOP.
