Two words . . . food-borne ill...

Two words. . .food-borne illness.

The prepared foods are contaminated by the inconsiderate shoppers but the management should do a better job of policing the mess. Hot food not hot enough to kill the pathogens.
The rest of the store is suspect. I just had a bout of food poisoning this past weekend from their soba noodles asian style or their salmon.

I came back from this whole food an hour ago, so disappointed. I went there this morning after a snowfall as many stores were closed, esp. my favorite Takoma park co-op. As I entered, i saw the peeled orange sampler, but no toothpicks or napkins, so i grapped the sppon holder and put one small orange part in my palm and then in my mouth. It was almost bitter, so i asked the guy nearby what oranges was these ones, so i buy a different kind, as there were different types of oranges lined up. He said he wasn't sure and there was no label on the sampler. While i was talking to him, another woman walked in and took the spoon to sample the orange and clearly put the spoon in her mouth adn placed it back into peeled oranges. She had gloves on, so perhaps she had no choice but to eat them that way. So i turned to the guy again and saw him seeing her too, asked him whether they should replace the spoon as its probably contaminated or place tooth picks for people to sample them. He said he will tell the management but kept arranged the produce without any move. I walked in shaking my head in disbelief and disgust that hopefully i won't catch any disease from sampling that orange.

But this was just the beginning, later a guy Rasheed who was by the grain aisle working, could care less when i asked if i could get a cup to measure the loose grains, as the receipe label on the grains stated cups and there was none available (unlike at co-op grocery store). He simply said just take it out little by little, which still won't help me eye the right cup amount. So i walked to customer service and asked for some help, the guy said Rasheed is the manager, but i insisted on asking for someone else, as Rasheed's answer was i don't know without any concern or interest in getting someone who knows or help me. So another lady, by the name Mariam cam by (whose name was hard to get, as she walked away without telling me her name, when i asked). She came and was even ruder and said you can weigh it, which is not same as cup measurement. After that she sort of shrugged her shoulders and walked away when i asked her for her name. Only after i raised my voice another nearby woman gave me Mariam's name.

Very disappointed, if i absolutely didn't need the chinese black rice (forbidden rice) and walnuts for a receipe for my sick mom prescribed diet, I would have left without buying anything. Will start getting everything from co-op, Snider's super market. Avoid this Whole foods, unless you want to get sick.

Great location.

Great store in an area that has a lot of foot traffic. Get in, get out and get on with your life.

Okay

The Silver Spring Whole Foods should build a second floor and move the dining area upstairs.
