I was lied to multiple times, was extremely upset with charges, had no disclosure to any "fees." I'll start off by saying I took my Spanky here because he had been in a dog fight (fostering a pup who when spanky tried to dominate, went at him) and it was the closest place to take him to get him looked at. They were great at that time with immediately looking at him and getting exactly what he needed. I was told that the follow up appointment to remove his bandage was free.. a week later I went back and asked the tech about the stitches (they did not look like they were dissolving) and she stated that she was "unsure what kind they used," which to me seemed a bit weird. The tech asked how he was acting since--I said that he was fine except for coughing, which she said was normal. She went in the back and came out with the vet who removed the stitched and ended up prescribing spanky something for his cough). Go to check out, bill is $75. I paid and asked for an itemized receipt. Once I got in the truck, I noticed there was a $37 re-check fee. So I get home, call the Veterinary Board, they said that the statement made was completely false, no law makes a vet charge for an exam fee. I called to speak to the manager, who continuously wanted to talk over me, kept saying "well we resolved that earlier. We took care of spanky." The manager laughed on the phone about the situation. Needless to say, I am not happy with how the situation was handled and no refund has been issued. I also noticed a heartworm test done on his first visit--I did not authorize this, nor did they disclose they were going to do so. I lied to, I was deceived, it felt like the tech went to get the vet to get an extra dollar because they saw the opportunity. Absolutely disgusted with the immaturity the manager had, especially given the circumstances. The first visit was rushed, I understand because of what happened, but that doesn't mean that you can slide in charges that were never told to me.

Wonderful experience!

First let me say that this is the most beautiful animal hospital I have ever been in. So clean and in a lovely location. Next, I have never ever been more pleased with the staff at an animal hospital. Everyone was so kind to me and to my dogs. Dr. Jane Barber is the most caring veterinarian I have ever met. She is an angel! I must say that the prices are comparable to other animal hospitals in the area.....however the care I received cannot be compared to any other animal hospital in the area. The care my pets received outshines any clinic I have ever been to. I highly recommend Veterinary Specialties hospital at the lake to everyone who owns a pet. Dr Jane Barber and her staff are absolutely the best!

Never Even Saw the Vet

On the very first visit to this vet, I walked in the door and there was no one in the waiting area and no one at the reception desk. I waited and waited and finally someone came out of the back room, took my information and put me in a small, cold, examining room where I waited and waited. Finally, after an hour I decided to leave rather than wait any longer (by the way, the reception area was empty so I'm not sure why I had to wait so long). Reception said they were sorry but they had had some "walk-ins" which made me wonder why I had made an appointment. Anyway, decided this was not a vet for me. I wish you better luck.
