I'm writing this review in the hopes that others will see this and take caution before placing their loved one in this facility.
We have had the unfortunate incident of placing my nana at this facility...Do not let the beautiful aesthetics of this place give you the false illusion that this place is safe, or caring...
My nana was transferred to Regency of Shelby and in less than 24 hours... she has experienced elder abuse! Leann Wagner, the nurse manager there needs to have her licensed revoked (or at the very least, receive disciplinary marks on her license). I personally have never, ever seen a nurse have such disrespect for her patients or the patients family members; nor have I seen a nurse have such incompetence, lack of compassion or lack of education regarding the nursing field.

My nana had a rotator cuff repair performed this past Tuesday...with that surgery it is essential the patients have continuous ice flow....the staff neglected to filled her ice machine at all.....she didnt receive her proper pain medication....they were planning on giving her her heart medicine TWICE A DAY and told her she was wrong when she questioned them, right then and there if the patient is questioning this the professional act would be to call the physician to clarify the order, they were rough and hurt her arm, and when she tried to assist herself out of bed these beds to not have side rails, and so she layed helpless....she was left in the bathroom for TWO hours unable to get up herself, the food was delivered cold to her hours later, the medications my nana is taking needed to be administered prior to her eating breakfast (any nurse with the education required to be an RN, would know this) yet, this medication was adminstered after she ate. This facility also have performed illegal activity where they refused to release my nanas medical record to her...this is not a hipaa violation and the patient always has the right to their own medical information.

Do not take a loved one here! The staff from the Social worker to the kitchen staff are not capable of caring for anyone. The Nurses and the Aides are rude and lazy if you can even find one when you need one. At the dining room residents are left for hours after they've eaten sitting at their uncleared tables banging their silverware trying to get someone to take them back to their rooms only to hear this facility's favorite saying "in just a minute". The PT and OT end was non communiticave. The only way to get information was to work at it and to figure out what questions to ask. My loved one never even saw the Staff Doctor. The Social worker was so UNHELPFUL and even Spiteful. All of these concerns were addressed by our family to the facility. No wonder they like you to keep complaints in house.

The PT/OT is excellent, but the staff members of the Long Term "Care" Unit are substandard. A few will go out of their way to be helpful and caring, but a few are abrupt, snippy, lackluster and do not display a great deal of compassion/concern for patients. Nor do they demonstrate common sense in instances where skill isn't even involved. I often hesitate to ask for services because they act as though I'm asking for something outrageous. And I'm often suspicious of the information they provide. I've been working with Administration to fix the many issues we have encountered in the past 30 days, but I doubt that the attitudes will ever change.
