best fish EVER

Just made another trip to the Pelican and had the most fabulous crispy skin branzino ever made. My friend went nuts over the Ahi tuna and his wife loved the red snapper. My wife savored every bite of the most tender veal saltimbocca ever. The service was top notch and the ambience was quite pleasant. Congrats to the Pelican for a perfect experience. I'm so glad we followed the recommendation of South Jersey Magazine when they voted it 2010s Best of the Best for fresh catch. it's soooo true.

I have finally found the best seafood restaurant in south jersey. The Pelican Restaurant (hey, no longer Pelican Fish Company) has arrived and is taking South Jersey by storm. The new chef/owner (as of 02/09) is Bill Fischer, the former celebrity chef from Caffe Aldo Lamberti and the Fretz Kitchen on CN8, has finally ventured out on his own. His chilean sea bass was the best I ever tasted and the pan seared scallops were also fabulous. Other famous favorites included Zucchini Crab cakes and Seasame Ahi Tuna, both recipes were popular specials that aired on the Fretz Kitchen on CN8, and are now popular favorites on the Pelican menu. Fischer is a former native Cape May comercial fisherman and and Chef, has brought together his amazing culinary talent and his sixth sense for fresh fish. Every dessert was homemade, the ambiance was very relaxing and romantic, the service was upscale but the prices were very, very reasonable. By far the best BYOB restaurant to ever hit south jersey! Check it out for yourself, you'll be glad you did!

a great disappointment

Pelican Fish was a wonderful place to dine with consistently top-notch, inventive apps and entrees. In June of 2008, the restaurant changed hands, and when I dined there last night it was a real let-down. My broiled seafood combination was horrific - the tilapia was overcooked and tasted freezer-burned. The shrimp were shriveled and tasteless, the mini-crabcake was runny. The scallops were acceptable, but not worth the $23.95. My husband's "sushi grade" ahi was stringy and tough. Service was acceptable, but no more. Background music was too loud. The owner did not charge us after our complaint, but I will not return.
