I just purchased a 2001 Golf GTI VR6 from a friend of mine. The friend who sold it to me has only had it for a short amount of time. Rite before a purchased it from him he replaced the battery in the car, as you all may know when you replace the battery in Volkswagen cars it puts the stereo in safe mode. The only way to make the stereo play and to take it out of safe mode is to add a four digit code. So first I called JENNINGS VOLKSWAGEN INC in Glenview, IL They told me that they would reset the code for a 60$ charge! I couldn't believe that it would cost that much to reset a code that only takes at most 5 minutes! So I called VOLKSWAGEN FOX VALLEY SCHAUMBURG in Schaumburg, IL I was really trying to get a better price because that seemed a little steep, I could buy aftermarket stereo for the same price! FOX VALLEY told me to bring my car in and they would do it at no charge! That is AMAZING SERVICE If you ask me, I will NEVER deal with anyone other than VOLKSWAGEN FOX VALLEY OF SCHAUMBURG AGAIN!!! These guys pulled a bait and switch with me on a car loan I applied for... and that was after I had to jump through hoops to even find this out. How would you like to be told you were approved for a $7,000 car loan but that you would have to put $2,500 down and the loan was still going to be $7,000? That means the loan for a $7,000 ended up being $9,500. That is a loan shark dressed in a tie and pretending they are a 'loan officer'. But even ignoring this, there are two offices with Fox Valley and I had one office try to push my loan through even though they knew I was working with the other office. So my credit got hit twice. They were misleading and only out for the sale. I even filed a complaint with the BBB which was a first for me. There are plenty of other VW dealers around that should be your first option.
