Two Fridays ago we stopped in the check out the music. The band that played is called "The Arch". Man what a couple of talented guys. I haven't seen/heard a guitar player like that in a long time.Worth the ride. No cover charge & greta chili & wraps. In fact we are going this Friday !Dave & Sherry

A friend of ours recommended The Flying Dog Cafe a few weeks ago. We find ourselves going back again and again. We get a Boars Head sandwich for less than any fast food mill. we have found no other bar, that stocks the draft beer they do. Keep it up.

What can I say? I have been going there since they opened 3 years ago. With each passing week the "Dog" is getting better & better. The chili is by far the best in the state. Along with the corn beef special. They really know how to make a sandwich & to boot its reasonable. The Cafe is starting to get some of the hottest bands in the area. Keep up the great work. Its refreshing to know someone actual cares about is customers ! Thanks !

This was my third time at TFD. We went with a bunch of friends this Friday evening. I must say it was the best time I've had in a long time. I ate a Lear-55 and loved it & accompanied it with a Flying Dog draft. They know how to brew a good cup of coffee also. The band sounded superb. My buddy got on stage and played his Harmonica with the band and they tell him wail. The band called the Arch put on a great show. . Wow this is a fun place.

A slice of Key West here in Sarasota

The best of Sarasota shows through at the Dog! Great staff, great atmosphere and great food. The Rueben sandwich is the best around! The sandwiches are piled high - especially for the price. The staff is pleasant and one can readily tell they enjoy being there to take care of the customers. If you enjoyed Cheers on TV - that's how it is at the cafe - they care about their "regulars" with that Cheers attitude! Nice to see they are now open evenings, offering live music on most Fridays and serving beer and wine. Extremely clean - pride of owner shows!

Great food, music and attitude!

The best little restaurant in the SRQ airport area. Everything is fresh, the sandwiches are creative and large, salads are nice too. The waitresses are great (schwing!) and the management really cares about the food, attitude and the atmosphere. Now they are open nights and have live music from time to time. Try the Lear-55 ...the best roast beef sandwich made. See their website @ theflyingdogcafe.com

A local favorite of mine

I own the Flying Dog Cafe. The comments from LC-2....are unwarranted. Every Cafe/Resturant has or shall I say Had someone like LC-2. There are always two sides to a story. Anyone who knows me knows I wouldn't let anyone out the door how wasn't satisfied. Peace & have a great life.

A local favorite of mine

Their vegetarian options are awesome! The service is great (most of the time...every restaurant has a bad waitperson). The ambiance is perfect for lunchtime...classic rock music in the background most days. I keep findimg myself back at their door, trying to decide between my two favorites - grilled tofu and veggie wrap.

Can count on them

I highly recommend the SRQ, this has become one of my favorite sandwiches, being from Philly, it nice to go to a restaurant, and not have italian dressing all over the sandwich. Good service, and friendly. Nice spot to eat in, or pick up. Fast service.

Had to stop going there because they kept getting orders wrong.

I used to order out from the Flying Dog but stopped because they would get 1 out of 3 orders wrong. The last time I ordered 2 Reubens. When I got them, they were on some mushy sandwich bread instead of rye. I called to complain and was told to come back another day for a refund and a free sandwiches to replace the bad ones. When I got there, the manager, Bruce shorted me on the refund, saying "I already paid the tax to the state" and refused to give me the sandwiches he promised. Basically, if you feel compelled to order take out there, check your order carefully and do not take Bruce's word for anything, as it is worthless.
