I purchased a Groupon coupon for dinner at Pranzo Italian Restaurant in Santa Fe. My husband and I made reservations for Saturday night at 7:00, letting the restaurant know we had a Groupon. First of all, the food and the restaurant were fantastic. We were about to rate the experience 5 stars out of 5, when we were reading the dessert menu, and a hostess came by and basically asked us to leave. She said they "needed this table by 8:00 because they were so busy." We looked around and there were several empty tables, and the booth in front of us had three ladies who had been there before we got there, and didn't look like they were in a hurry to leave. They were not asked to vacate their table. I don't know if we were treated this way because we used a Groupon, or because we are native Santa Feans (read "not white"), or a combination of the two. We ordered our dessert TO GO, and tipped generously on the entire bill. But our rating went from a five to a one.

Being a professional foodie it has been nothing but disappointment when I have dined with this avenue. To ensure that Pranzo’s Italian Grill had a chance to redeem itself, I visited this avenue twice in one year (Spring & Winter). I have always enjoyed properly prepared Italian food and this was not one of those occasions. Italian food needs love and passion to be prepared properly and Pranzo’s has no love or passion in their food or there service. To say the least there food had an old/rancid flavor to it…as if the ingredients had been on the shelves for a few weeks and the chef’s lack of talent shows very clearly. Most of the dishes drenched in oil or has too much of over powering ingredients (Garlic). Besides one look at the menu and you can tell, someone got too happy with copying and pasting. As for service the wait staff seems to change almost weekly....With many green (New) servers it shows that there is a lack of management or any management for that matter!!! Makes you
