Known for her patient-centered approach to medicine and gentle demeanor, Therese M. Powers, LAC, brings sincerity, warmth, and individualized care to each interaction at her San Luis Obispo office. Here, she combines time-honored traditions with results-based practices to best meet the unique needs of her patients.

Therese has demonstrated her dedication to the practice of Chinese medicine through extensive graduate education and training. Some of her academic accomplishments include:

· A Masters Degree from the nationally recognized Five Branches Institute in Santa Cruz, California - one of the only accredited alternative medicine institutions in the United States.

· Official certifications from the State Board of California, a regulatory agency that recognizes only those practitioners that have undergone extensive education and training, passed a national examination, and uphold strict ethical codes of conduct.

· Completion of more than 3,000 hours of training in both Western Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

· Participation in an advanced study program at the Zhejiang Chinese Medical University (China) in the field of internal medicine and pain management.

In addition to Therese's participation at the Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, Therese has also trained with Northern California's acclaimed doctor Maureen Rozenn, who specializes in fertility and women's health. Her 3-year apprenticeship with Dr. Rozenn included additional clinical instruction at a Hepatitis C treatment center, as well as intense training in Japanese acupuncture, liver health, and pain management.
