I believe I know just about everything that can go wrong with contractor, and so I was very hesitant to seek someone’s help to do another project on my backyard. However, Pedro from ATR Landscape Lic. #910974 did his job so flawlessly, that he was somehow able to restore my faith in contractors.
He really started to impress me from day 1, when he showed up at 8am to start the job on Monday, after we approved his bid on Friday. His bid to put in a patterned retaining wall was the most reasonable, and I must admit I was skeptical. My pessimism turned out to be unfounded: Pedro stayed on budget, did not ask for any money upfront, ordered the right materials, took care of all the logistics; at the end provided itemized invoice with exact material and labor costs.
He communicated timely and clearly by text if he was running late, or if he had questions and clarified his remarks with pictures. Before he would start doing anything he would make sure that he understood what we wanted. Once we understood each other, I did not have to stick around – Pedro showed up early every day and stayed long hours to keep up with the schedule he had set for himself. Moreover, he continued coming back every day, without interruptions, and working until the project was complete.
Judging by how many specialized tools he had brought in, I suspect he can do just about any landscaping job there is. I shall speak only for what he has done for me, which was a patterned retaining wall. My wall turned on to be done right (I can tell because I built one myself: drainage, levelled, interlocked blocks). It was done on budget, on schedule, 10-year warranty, looked just like we wanted – it was flawless. I would absolutely recommend him to anybody looking to do similar project. I know I will try to get his help on the next landscaping project.

Buyer beware... Pedro has great sales skills and confidence. Very positive and claims he is knowledgeable. Provided good estimate and schedule and so he got the job. Promises the world, but delivers nothing.

He was suppose to start on Tuesday and he showed up on time. However, he did not come prepared. He went to Home Depot the night before, Memorial Day, and picked up about 5% of what the job needed. Although he had about 10 days to purchase the supplies from a commercial irrigation company which we discussed. When asked he claimed he preferred that supplier, but Home Depot was the only open place that night. So the supplies he brought were not good quality and certainly not enough to keep him busy for the eight hours we planned out. He also claimed that his credit card was maxed and couldn't purchase the supplies, We discussed the job again and decided to have him go get supplies at the commercial supply house and have them call me so I could give the company my credit card number.

He was supposed to come back by 2pm. A bunch of excuses started to surface: he claimed his car over heated. The mechanic didn't have the part, his friend was going to get it, he claimed he would give updates, but never called, when I called him the phone kept going dead (hanging up??), over and over, he stated the phone was breaking up when pressed are you in board with job as it was all fishy smelly...Never heard from him again. Buyer be beware... Super great sales pitch, but no delivery of product nor labor. Would not recommend as he couldn't even start the job.

Overall, it was a waste of time dealing with him. The same day that he flaked out my friend gave me a number of her irrigation guy and within three days the valve and timer had been installed and my plants are happy again. A world of difference between Pedro's SALES and actually just getting the job done.
