4 people can eat and have beers at Kitaro and get out the door for $20 a head, with tip and all the multitude of fees and taxes SF charges to keep the poverty pimps employed.

Try the tempura rolls and firecracker sushi, they are 2 of my favorites. Affordable decent sushi in a fun (albeit loud) atmosphere. Catch the 38 bus, as parking out there can be a horror.

If you are looking for quick, tasty, fresh, and reasonably priced sushi, its hard to beat Kitaro. They routinely have 15% coupons printed on the back of Safeway receipts as well. I travel across town to eat here, since you can chow down on all your favorites and still have money for dessert. 4 stars not because its a fine dining experience, but for the $ vs the food.

If you want quick service (and I mean, quick), and quantity over quality, then this is a good Japanese restaurant for you. Their food is just OK, but you can't beat the bargain prices you get. One downside is that the seating is very cramped, and it can get very noisy at times (you can definitely hear your neighbors' conversations). It would be nicer if the tables weren't so close together, but again, this is an OK place for a quick and simple meal.
