Mission Statement: In the heart of San Dimas, The Thaddeus Foundation is a charity organization that has been aiding the local community since 1975. Our mission is to inspire HOPE and growth in youth and women in need. At The Thaddeus Foundation we have two main goals: To stop the downward spiral of at-risk and foster youth. We want to reach struggling youths before they become pregnant, homeless, or get involved with drugs and alcohol. By providing them with valuable life and job skills, they will be able to reverse their downward spiral and be productive members of soci-ety. To empower, guide, and support women and their families. We want to give teen mothers, single moth-ers, and mothers of children with special needs the knowledge, confidence, and the opportunity, to pro-vide a better life for the next generation. Current Activity: We have two centers to improve the lives of youth and women. The Teen Center offers programs and services to at-risk and foster youth. For career development the services include college planning, digital literacy, and resume/interviewing workshops. The Teen Center also has programs and services specifically for life development, such as a mentoring programs, life coaching, Ready Set Wait program, personal finance for teens, and teen violence. Our Women’s Center offers programs and services to women in need. The career development services include digital literacy, business development, and resume/interviewing workshops. To help in life development we have programs and services, such as relationship building, parenting, mentoring, finance management, and stress management. The programs offer a supervised playroom for children at no cost. The room contains toys and equipment for children with special needs so that their mothers can participate in our services. In addition to our two centers, we have Homework Hotspot which is an after-school program that is designed for middle school and high school students to get together for tutoring help and to spend their afternoons in a safe environment. Throughout the week, there are group tutoring sessions in order to ensure that any student that comes is able to receive sufficient attention and assistance with their homework. In addition, we do recognize that certain students require more attention than others, which is why we offer private tutoring sessions for students that prefer tutoring in a one-on-one format. In fashioning a dynamic system here at the Homework Hotspot, we provide a setting that encourages academic success for all learning levels and interpersonal development among students. One aspect to our program that sets itself apart from other tutoring services is the intentional emphasis that we place on the interactions between students and our tutors. In addition to the standards of providing quality homework assistance, the Homework Hotspot aims to recruit tutors that can serve role models for the youth that we work with. Academic success certainly is a significant priority, but we at the Homework Hotspot also consider character development to be an equally important area of growth in order to better prepare the youth we aid for future life experiences. To facilitate such opportunities of interpersonal connections, the Homework Hotspot devotes an allotted amount of time for tutors and students to simply converse with one another and to truly get to know each person. Our current hours are: MWF from 3- 6 p.m. Homework Hotspot will also be available on site at San Dimas High School, Lone Hill Middle School, Bonita High School and Ramona Middle School starting in January 2017, so check out our website for more information!
