Roger Mignosa, DO, is a board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation physician and an exercise physiologist. Physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists help restore function in individuals who have impaired physical activity as a result of illness or injury. Dr. Mignosa cares for patients at UC San Diego Health's family medicine locations, helping people with arthritis, balance and gait disorders, concussions, orthopedic pain, neurological pain, stroke rehabilitation, traumatic brain injury and other related conditions. He has an interest in sports medicine and also treats athletic injuries and helps individuals improve sports performance. Dr. Mignosa focuses on the whole person to address how the body adapts to and copes with physical, mental and emotional stressors. He integrates osteopathic manual medicine, exercise science, positive psychology and traditional healing practices to help his patients maximize their natural healing ability. As a professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health, Dr. Mignosa teaches medical students, residents, and fellows at UC San Diego School of Medicine. He also teaches at the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Ariz. His work has been published in The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, Clinical Pain Advisor and The Pain Practitioner. Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Mignosa led an exercise physiology practice in Orange County, Calif. He has lectured at both national and international medical conferences in the fields of pain, rehabilitation, exercise science, and mental health. Dr. Mignosa completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and an internship at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis, Ore. He earned his medical degree from Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Prior to medical school, Dr. Mignosa served as a Rotary Goodwill Ambassadorial Scholar at the University of Queensland, Australia where he studied clinical exercise science. Dr. Mignosa is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. His is a member of the Academy of Integrative Pain Management and the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine.
