I was recently at Warm Springs of Thousand Oaks for the third time. This time was HORRIBLE. I also experienced uncaring doctors who blew off the fact that my leg was red, hot, and swollen to twice its size after knee replacement. I had to get my surgeon involved in my care because of it. I am now BACK in skilled nursing because I was INJURED during PT -- due to the FACT that they thought I should be able to tolerate more than I could. I received a soft tissue, muscle injury that left me completely, and I DO mean COMPLETELY immobile. I have been in this new place for a little less than a week and have made remarkable progress.

I was in a great deal of pain, and one nurse went so far as to tell me, "It won't KILL you to wait an hour for your pain medication!" because she didn't know how Methadone (Chronic Pain) and Norco (acute pain) interact with each other.

I had to continually argue with nurses who refused to follow my surgeon's orders regarding changing of my dressing; had to deal with an uncaring physician who had NO bedside manner, and was sent home when they KNEW I was not yet ready to go home.

I am a disabled veteran. On a positive note, I DID send a copy of my evaluation to the Veteran's Coordinator because Warm Springs of Thousand Oaks IS a Veteran's Center of Excellence, and must also meet THEIR standards of care, not just the Joint Commission's standards of care.

There are some great people there. Brad, physical therapist, Hope, Laura, Occupational Therapy, Jose -- Nursing, Sarah, Nursing, etc. But, just like anything, it is ALWAYS a FEW people who make it bad for everyone else.

WSTO needs a no nonsense administrator who will actually LISTEN to patient's concerns. They need to have a disciplinary board composed of veterans, health care professionals, and former patients to address the most grievous of complaints like not helping patients, not following doctor's orders, not providing adequate pain control, etc., and this board should ALSO recognize and reward those who bring credit to the organization.

Warm Springs Rehabilitation in...

Warm Springs Rehabilitation in San Antonio Tx. This was my family's first encounter with a rehabilitation center. My sister was a first time amputee and was also a heart patient. The doctor Doctor Nunez was rude and unprofessional! My sister was in so much pain and having difficulty swallowing. When I went to ask for a nurse Dr. Nunez was sitting with his back to me. I said please sir, I need a nurse, my sister is having trouble in her room. He barely wanted to turn around and just said "Uh I do not know where she is!" I did not know he was a doctor at this point. I said "well could you call one my sister really need to be looked at." He slowly got up and without moving looked side to side. I said do you work here? The doctor said slowly, "uh sometimes!" No sense of urgency, no concern!! He then walked toward a corridor and got the nurse. I waited until the nurse came to see about my sister. By this time she was in much pain! I walked out after asking the nurse who the man was at the desk and told her of what he had done. I explained my concern and requested to be formally introduced by the nurse standing there. The doctor still had a not caring attitude. I said you barely acknowledged me or my concern a few minute ago. My sister needed help! Doctor Nunez said, "well I got the nurse did not I?" I was totally appalled at the response . I said that attitude is so disrespectful and unprofessional! I would have never guessed you were a doctor!! My sister was sent back to the ER for a second surgery that same day. This doctor should have a training class on bedside manner and be disciplined for his lack of concern for ANY patient!! His excuse was that people come to the desk for little things such as a tray. I said you are a doctor and you can not assume anything here! Every patient should receive the same concern and urgency until you rule out the need for less urgency!! Never will I recommend this place to anyone!!!!! Hate it!!!
