On this fine Memorial Day 2014, I, a veteran's wife, decided to buy our son some clothes at this Children's Place. As I went to make my purchase, I was unenthusiastically greeted by this large woman in a red blouse. I could have attributed her sour disposition to the fact that I decided not to buy into their store credit card, however this was already before she even asked me. As I made a kind comment about the weather, she just interrupted me like I wasn't talking at all and tell me to have a nice day as she's absent mindedly handed me the receipt. I used to work in retail, I used to be at the register, I can sympathize with a bad day. However I never pressed upon my customers, or blamed them if I was having a bad day. This is the second time this happen to me at this particular location. I am not sure if her blood sugar dropped or she was just having a bad day, however courtesy does a long, long way. I am NOT one of those customers who buys a $4 shirt here and there, I can spend hundreds of dollars at the store during the year. But no matter if you are there once or hundred times, courtesy-- courtesy goes a long way. Should I see this woman next time I go in there, I shall avoid her like the plague, even if it means waiting an extra couple minutes for an actual nice associate. Or perhaps I'll just go over to the La Cantera location. They've yet to disappoint.
