Provided by YP.comI cannot say enough about the education I recieved from IWHS! The modular schedule really forces you to learn time management skills! Academically I felt really challenged in a positive way and if ever I needed help or clarification on an assignment the teachers always helped and made sure I understood. The school offers Pre- AP and AP classes in the event that the regular curriculum is not challenging enough. IWHS also partners with UIW and offers some college level courses for students to take and begin earning college credits!
IWHS also has tow really neat programs to make the students really feel like they belong to a family. The first is the Big Sis/ Lil Sis program where a seasoned Senior student and brand new Freshman student are paired up for the year. My Big sis was amazing! She passed on a lot a insider intel to me and made sure I was doing alright in my transition to the intense world of high school. I loved being a Big sis my senior year and getting little knick knacks for my Lil Sis and helping her find her niche at IWHS. My Lil Sis and I are still really good friends! The second program I found helpful is the Fish Tips program! In this program teams of Sophomore students help guide the freshmen through their first semester of high school. I loved their classes! They answered our questions and made us feel like we could come to them at any time if we didn't know something.
I loved the All- Girl environment of IWHS! The focus was truly on studying and extra-curriculars! I think the fact that IWHS student wear uniforms and hardly wear make-up really help to keep the students from becoming obsessed with their outward apparence and the superficial aspects of being a teenager. I loved coming to school everyday at IWHS!
Oh and if your daughter likes to sing she MUST look into joining the IWHS Choir. Mary Ann De La Garza directs the choir along with teaching Algebra. She is by far the best teacher I have ever had and being a part of the Choir and Madrigals was the BEST part of high school. Dela (as we call her) helps you be your best in both acadmeics and as a person.
Incarnate Word is the best education by far for young women. They truly prepare you for college and ensure that the time spent there will be rewarding and memorable!
