All of the food is prepared to the customer's order. Steak 'n Shake restaurants feature full-service dining areas, counter service and drive-thru windows and are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Steak 'n Shake is one of the oldest restaurant chains in the United States. It was founded in 1934 in Normal, Ill., and operates more than 400 restaurants in 20 states, including 45 franchised units. The company's restaurants are located in the following states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin. Its corporate headquarters is in Indianapolis. The company had more than $600 million in revenue in 2005.
