The Planning and Development Services Division is responsible for encouraging the development of communities with a range of land use, transportation system and recreation opportunities. The division coordinates development review and approval with federal, state and other local public agencies and jurisdictions. It monitors land uses for their impact on the county's storm drainage systems. The Planning and Development Services Division also maintains and updates zoning maps. It additionally reviews building plans for new construction and modifications to existing buildings. The division also monitors and licenses various business activities. The Planning and Development Services Division is a part of the public works department that is operated by the city government of Salt Lake in Utah.
