Do not use your policy if you decide to go with them. We had to file our very first ho claim due to a catastrophic windstorm in our county shortly after signing on with them. NEVER a claim on any of our policies with them before. Long story short- here we are 3 years later (after a 2nd violent windstorm hit and damaged additional sides of our home) and we have finally received final payout for the two claims due to the involvement of an attorney after they threatened us and treated us so poorly (according to several public adjusters and our attorney who reviewed ALL correspondence between us). The tactics they used and the things they said were incredibly unprofessional, with a threat coming from the VP for us to accept what little they were willing to offer or else... Ridiculous that we pay as much as we do to use in catastrophic circumstances and they treat us like criminals for actually fighting to use our policy, ie what we are PAYING for. Bottom line- be prepared for a looong fight if you sign on with them and actually need to use your policy! I have NEVER been treated so disrespectfully by a company or had to work so hard for something we paid good money in equal faith for. Disgusted.

We filed a claim after damage ...

We filed a claim after damage to our vehicle. They were unavailable almost every time we called. When we did finally get through they were unwilling to explain to us in layman's terms our situation. They ended up totaling our vehicle, when by the standards they stated themselves it was under their totaling percentage, then told us sometimes they don't use that standard. Never offered any assistance with a rental vehicle. Didn't pay us the correct balance for their estimate of our vehicle. I guess our values didn't count.

By far the worst customer serv...

By far the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I spoke with Sharon and she had no idea what was going on, she put me on hold for what seemed like 10 mins just to talk to Melissa in Accounting who wouldn't help me at all. She then hung up on me. I called right back, this time quite upset, again Sharon put me on hold and put me through back to Melissa who then tried to transfer me to Lana, who wasn't there and STILL hasn't returned my call. I've tried to reach them again and again, but still no luck. They refused to rewrite my policy when they clearly messed up on their end. I had sent in my routing number and signed the EFT...they never switched my account info when I switched bank accounts. I have proof of all of this. They then "supposedly" sent me a notice that my policy was being cancelled...except I never received anything electronically or physically. I went to my bank to see if they had received anything, which they HADN'T...by law they are required to receive notification of such an event. I had my bank then put on letterhead that they hadn't received anything and weren't aware of such a cancellation (they weren't too happy) and tried to conference them in with me while I talked to Bear River...but Bear River wouldn't do it. After all of that, all that Bear River had to say was, "Sorry, it must be irony." A poor excuse for putting someone in a potentially horrendous situation. They refused to help. Avoid Bear River Mutual Insurance!
